Manually installing icons and yes I searched and searched

I would love to buy the full blown package of Windowblinds but I was injured at work 6 years ago and live on disability so I need to be careful where I spend my money. I did buy CursorXP awhile back and have fun with that. My question now revolves around icons, do I need to buy another program? I don't think iconpackager is what I want it might be nice for doing all the folders at the same time but I sit around and tweak and play with my windows (theirs not much more I can do except deteriorate my brain watching television) and want to download icons and install them one by one by going through properties and change icon. The icons available in XP home are in like system 32 in windows can I download individual icons and place them in that folder somehow. I went through all seven pages of the search of "icons" and came close but never found exactly my question nor did I find it in any of the FAQ's. Any help would be appreciated.

I personally wouldn't add any icons to the system folders. Set up a personal folder for downloaded icons... (I store mine in the Favorites folder, in the Iconpackager directory). When you change icons through the properties, you can browse to that folder.

I wouldn't get into the trouble to change them by hand. If You can't spend the money on Iconpacackager (which is the best iconchanger arround) the next alternative would be IconPhile http://www.virtualplastic.net/scrow/iphile.html , although it hasn't been developed further for over one year now.

Thanks for the quick replies, to Wizop, I cant install into any directory I already have like making a new folder? Your suggestions requires me to purchase the iconpackager right? And to c242 I am convinced icon changer is the best from reading all the posts but I got the idea that I could only do complete packages of icons and not individually is this right? Again thank you.

bjdbrad...I think this is the kind of program you are looking for. Once installed any Icon you right click on, you will see an 'Appearance' selection in the menu to change any Individual icon

Yes I did download the trial version awhile back and it did do exactly as I wanted but it seemed such a waste to buy the full program for just changing icons, I think the rest of the things that you can do with Microangelo are a bit over my head. Could you answer this question if did get Microangelo would I still be able to download icons from this site to use with Microangelo? I'm all for supporting the site and I did buy a couple programs from Stardock in the past but for me I think Microangelo is the better choice if I can use the icons from this site.

Thanks for the responses

Sure you can...You would just browse to folder where your Icon Packager theme would be.

Zodiaq I'm sorry I should have been more explicit with my question.......I don't own Iconpackager as of the present time......would Microangelo be a suitable replacement for Iconpackager for downloading and using icons I find on this site? If I understand your answer, it requires me to have both programs?

Hmm, if You don't want to paint Icons by Yourself, drop Microangelo and buy IconPackager instead.
