Dragonlance models in progress

Well, with the major help of Civfreak, and team Dragonlance, here are some screenies of some of my models in game.  Once again thanks to Civ, you da man!

My minotaur

The materials get lost somewhere when exporting from softimage to havok.  So no colors.... which is a pain in the ass.  Needs to be uv mapped, which also seems to be a hassle.  At any rate this guy needs some UV map loving.

Oh, what's that behind you?   This minotaur is about to make you his beyatch!

I made a skeleton and there is more of it, I think, in the 3D modeler's request thread and I put him in.  Looks fantabulous in-game, I must say.

I even modeled Frogboy, he is now in-game.  Needs his colors though.

Ah well, I am tired and must retire for bed.  Major kudos to the Dragon Lance guys.  I think we need to make some bowling shirts or something.  Oh, and there are more people to thank, Heavenfall for instance and I am sure I have missed a few more, but to all the people contributing to the modding stuff on these forums... thank you very much.  You deserve some beer and a bowling shirt.

That's excellent stuff brother. I was STOKED when I saw them when we talked tonight and I'm just as STOKED to see them again here. :)

The skels will go great in Undead Rising 3.0 as well :)

Kender are coming, no worries. This is to show that models are being made and we can get them in game, that's all. Even this is a Really Big Step in the process.

excellent work! k1

but i have to ask... in the first in-game shot of the skeleton, is it the perspective of the image, or are his feet proportionately that much smaller?

keep it up! :)

Thanks and good catch... I didn't think anyone would notice.  You know it's weird I am not sure if this is an issue having to do with the fact that materials get lost and don't export from blender and softimage to havok or if it's a lighting issue.  His first half of his foot turns out completely black for some reason, and it looks kind of like how shadows affect models in a rendering with certain shadow affects on in Blender.  Anyway I was gonna mess with it last night but I was too tired.

Not Kinder, KENder :P

And they will NOT be in Undead Rising 3.0 . I might hide some elf heads on a stick in there somewhere though :P

What? No halfling-flinging catapults??? You, dear sir, are unaware of the potential that light-weight zombies offer to tactical warfare!

[Keep up the good work guys! Can't wait to re-enact the Heroes of the Lance chronicle!]

Thanks tio Civ once again... sheesh this stuff is confusing and tedious.  Without any further delay, I present your new Frogboy Sovereign.  Here he and Janusk are checking out the scenery.

Elemental_1284161527

The eyes are supposed to be red, like that weird tree frog in FB's avatar, but I think the "eyes" text in the game file override it... I guess, otherwise I modeled a clear colored lens over the eyes... oh well.  Oh, and the feet/pads are supposed to be orange... they are yellow..

Here are a few more of Lord FrogBoyDoodyHead checking stuff out....

Elemental_1284161556

Uh oh, LordFrogBoyDoodyHead meets Lord Magnar and some wench.

Elemental_1284161605

I decided to circle around them... taunting them with my sucky-toe-thumb-frog-grippers.

Elemental_1284161694

They just walked by me.  Hey, who is that chick with Magnar anyway?

Seems they were going out to dinner to eat frog legs :P, skin looks great, gj

May be I am speaking something stupid, but since Starcraft2 now is able to use the models of World of Warcraft, with all the skeletons, animation... , why don't you attempt to import somethings from WoW.

For example, I have seen some dudes imported the models of starcraft2 to redalert3, replacing the RA's original constrcution and vechicles.

The look wouldn't fit.

Also, there might be IP concerns, I don't know.

This. Blizzard would have major issues with their work being ripped and put into another game, even a Mod of a game made for free. Fan Made Mods can use copyrighted content and get away with it IF they make sure to give credits and post the copyrighted information from the actually owners (in this case Blizzard), but, the copyright owners can ALWAYS demand that the Mod Makers take it down If They Choose too siting that the Mod Makers didn't get expressed permission to use Blizzard's assets.

I think the only way Blizzard would let something like that fly would be if a fan made a Warcraft Mod with Starcraft 2's modding tools. Since that would be a Mod "Of" a Blizzard game made "For" a Blizzard game, they would let that go and if it was done right they'd probably even want to charge people for it. Because they're greedy corporate ass-hats.

Yeah I can think of an Aliens vs Predator mod for some first person shooter being taken down because of a demend by the Contents owner. I dont remeber the game the mod was for, but there was quite a stir made about the company insisting it be stopped. Your actually better off just making something up yourself, it can even be close to what you could import as long as it is clearly different. Well close enough to skate around the legality of it. Still better to spend your time dreaming something up on your own.
