Back from the beach
We're back home from the beach (daughter, dog and myself). A bit tired, but happy to be home.
Puppy did ok on the drive down and back, though it definitely took a lot out of her both ways. On the way down she got car sick and threw up what she had eaten just a few hours (if that) earlier. She was fine after that, though she drooled a lot from the car sickness and had gotten her fur a mess from the remains of the food combining with the drool and the newsprint on the paper that lined the travel crate. On the way back we were more proactive and limited her food in-take so she wouldn't have a stomach full to throw up if the ride didn't agree with her. Much better, though she drooled a good bit again and had her fur a mess again from that. Her time at the beach seemed to be fun for her though once she settled back down. She had a blast playing with the rest of my family and their children, and of course she was happy to introduce herself to anyone that she passed while she was out walking. Hopefully in avoiding too much food today she'll also get back to regularity since the trip did seem to throw her off that cycle a bit as well. Normally she's pretty reliable about going several hours after eating, but throwing up on the way down seemed to put that completely out of order. Either way, I'm sure she'll be happy not to have to travel too far for quite a while. ![]()
I failed relatively miserably at catching up on my reading. Just not enough time while at the beach. There never is really, but when at the beach there's just too much stuff you want to do and not enough time to get anything done. We did do some Waverunner riding and went to the "famous" restaurant that my mother likes for breakfast food. I also gulped down a couple of burgers from my favorite boardwalk stand, along with the "famous" boardwalk french fries and a bit more junk food. (Shhhhh! don't tell my doctor :p) Some pizza mixed in for good measure, and a couple of custard cones (ice cream). Never mind the fudge and other candy we brought home to snack on. ;) At least the salt water taffy that I brought back is for my co-workers and such and not me, so that can't be counted against me. Throw in a couple of rounds of Rummikub with my mom, sister-in-law and my daughter (and myself) and the weekend was basically used up, at least the Saturday and Sunday components of it.
Since we're home a day early (daughter has a bunch of school work to get done and I need to check in on a system at work that has been acting up a bit, hopefully I can take advantage of the holiday to power cycle it and perhaps clear its head a bit), I would hope that I can relax a bit more tomorrow and enjoy the day off. Last one for a while since I've used up more paid time off than I had hoped and rather than taking Columbus Day and Veterans day off, I'm now thinking of working on those days to save the paid time to carry over into next year.
I guess I should wrap up here though I'll include a bonus photo for those that made it this far. A nice sunset from the bayside at the beach resort.

Pretty sunset on the beach trip. Apparently Hurricane Earl didn't mess things up too much.
