I support Stardock, the devs and Brad Wardell!

Well, hearing about Stardock being in difficult waters, I feel I wanted to say that. You have my support. I bought the game, and even tho I feel atm it isn't really playable and needs much extension and rework for some months to come, I won't sent in refunds and won't write bad reviews. It's a decision of loyality.

Why?

Stardock has brought us good games in the past, and I don't want them to perish. I know they can make good games yet, and they have been honest and open about the situation. Which is more than we can say about most big studios. I want those small, creative studios like Stardock to survive.

I wish you folks at Stardocks the best. I will let Elemental rest and come back playing it in some months, so I hope you all keep working on it. The idea of Elemental was great, it just need some more work. And I am willing to wait, even tho I would not be so "generous" with bigger studios. Call it an investment in the future. And that's what I ask of you, my fellow gamers. Be patient, give them a chance. Do you really want everything being owned by EA in the end? I think not.

Keep up the faith and work, Stardock. Yes you can! :)

That's not how copyright law works, Drago.  Return policies actually have nothing to do with copyright law.  Copyright is what protects a brand from being replicated and sold by separate corporate entities.

Well tell that to the assholes at Walmart or Bestbuy that won't let you return a PC game and state "Federal Copy Right laws won't  let us take back your opened PC product." =(

Wow. This rapid transformation into philosophers of political economy and legal analysts is something I hope to never see again. Whatever fool started talking about 'free market capitalism' in this thread should be beaten; and whatever Brad's political philosophy is has zero impact on this thread. Get a life; stop propagandizing your religion on a thread about Elemental: War of Magic.

Ah, so your knowledge of copyright law is derived from a Walmart customer service desk...

But back on point, why is this game's poor release creating such a visceral and obsessive compulsion to post in defense of a product whose creator has said was in a poor state at release.  Let it go.  They'll fix it.  Stop cluttering up the forums with this asinine drivel.  These are adults.  They don't need you for moral support.  They don't need you to provide a constant stream of sycophantic rambling.  They are perfectly capable of affirming each other.

Let's work as a team in order to bring issues to their attention.

Quoting Rune_74, reply 64It's sad that every thread gets high jacked like this.  I support SD in getting the game to where it should be, because hell I want to play it.  This constant bickering and shit is not helping anything.

For the record: Matt Gallant(stalker) has multiple accounts over at qt3, how much you want to bet some of the louder people here are him?

LOL, I love it when people want to make utterly unprovable bets.  I'm sure all of this is coming from one guy.  I bet all the poor reviews are the same reviewer too.

We are Matt Gallant.

We are Legion.

We do not forgive.

We do not forget.

Your right, they don't need sycophantic drivel, they are adults and should behave as such. But I do want to say this much, I do support them for doing something that most developers don't do.  It might be be pointless and self serving but I must thank everybody their doing what they have already done; more than I have ever seen, personally I have seen it dedication to quality that is very rare in this age.  Everyone now is just making another shoooter. They are making a game that is is truly unique,  something beyond a derivative shooter.  I Find myself in strange position some, people give it a bad reviews yet I can't stop playing.

Stardock has my support and stays one of the last companies I buy games from.

I can understand how easy it is to be offended by constructive criticism and blind to imperfections in a project which you're close to.  The Elemental launch wasn't what very many people hoped it would be. It's really a shame, because I can still see the beautiful game which I saw in it when I started Beta 2. I'd like nothing more than to have Stardock and Elemental bounce back from this fiasco. Unfortunately the gaming community isn't exactly the sort of place where "any publicity is good publicity". While games that get exceptional reviews too often founder on store shelves, Elemental has unfortunately garnered a reputation as a product to stay away from for now. I can only hope that when the potential for this game is realized, that it will get even a quarter the attention that the premature launch has received.

Brad and all, you also have my support. I have and will be with Stardock for the deep games and their business attitude towards their customer. For me the game is not broken, but instead still has a way to go to reach its potential. Patch 1.07 has gone a considerable distance to fix some major problems, such as slow down, for me. I for one will not be asking for refund and will be keeping my Limited Editions.  I am looking forward to the September update and what you bring in the future.

Thanks Brad.

Stardock. You have the foundation of a great game here. Keep on working and it will be great! There are lots of good ideas among the problems that the game have. I love the fact that the world gets more dangerous based on research. I love the fact that every unit get level increases with experience. I love the possibility of getting a unit on level up (though it should be stronger than currently offered) ++

Stay on these roads. Do not stray :)

I support giving refunds if we are disatisfied.

Can we get a refund on this game?

And again and again....

Its killing you isnt it.

I support any company that decides to make a fantasy TBS game. It might be Stardock, EA or some obscure russian developer, it doesn't matter, they deserve my money for even daring to produce a game of a such silly, narrow genre.

I have no prior experience of or attachments to Stardock. I'm a bit baffled with how such an obviously unfinished product can be released because of one persons stubbornness, but also impressed with the total openness from the same person.

Asking for refunds at this stage is counterproductive in my opinion. I don't want to play generic shooters converted from Xbox for the rest of my life. We should support anyone who wants to develop the opposite of that, even if their product is not 100% to our liking. Because one day it might just be that... 100%.

+1

Might as well just go back to board games if that happens.

I was supporting Stardock since GC1, so they won`t take this support away so easily with one fail start.

I don't know why people are calling Elemental a "fail", an initial let down sure, but was GC perfect on it's initial release? Elemental is about 80-90% there, all it needs is some big updates and maybe an expansion. Not the end of the world.

The game is good.  Really good.  Lots of games out there suck, but this one does not.  I am happy.  There.  ^^

That really scares me.  I hope stardock doesn't feel they are '80-90%' there.  If they do, I'm going to deeply regret hanging on and not seeking a refund.

You're ignoring all the 'taken for granted (by players)' stuff in writing software which has already been completed, but okay.  The point wasn't to specify some arbitrary % complete which has no meaning, the point was that it's fixable over time and doesn't need a total rewrite (which would be a fail).

My support is also with Stardock... while I sometimes argue with Stardock over multiplayer design decisions my support remains.

I guess that's what I'm saying.  I feel that some of it DOES require a total re-write.  Some of the stuff in here (like magic) simply needs a re-write.  And they have as much as admitted it's going to get one.  So I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Agreed. Even though I don't own the game yet, I've played it at a friend's place and I gotta say, once this gets fixed, and mutliplayer added, it could be one of the greatest strategy games made in the latest years, so I'll be definetly getting it when that happens (the game getting completed, I mean). Don't let the pessimists get you down, and STAY ON TARGET.

I will support StarDock and Elemental to the bitter end.  We must not give up until Elemental is recognized as a fantasy strategy game masterpiece.

I too will stand by Stardock and co. I believe they deserve my respect and loyalty. They have done so much that other companies simply refuse to do. EA is an awesome example. Anways Elemental was a mistake in the way it was handed and everyone is entitled to make mistakes yes? However I know that stardock will at least try to ammend the mistakes they made, and thats saying alot. So therefore they will have my continued support.
