Hoping it all passes well off to the East...

Since this weekend is the family trip to the beach weekend, I'm very hopeful that hurricane Earl decides to take a much more Easternly track so that the weather will remain fairly nice for the weekend.  As things currently appear the weather may be at its worst at the time that I should be heading to the beach, which hopefully means that by the time I actually get there the worst will have come and gone.  Here's hoping that will be the case :D

What will I actually be doing at the beach?  Well, it'll depend upon the weather of course, but if things stay calm enough, I'd like to get some Jetski'ing time in for myself and my daughter both, and I'd also like to rent a scooter for the weekend so I can putter along on it.  With that said I may pass on the scooter completely because the beach resort area is just too darned busy to get much enjoyment out of such a "toy".  Sure they are fun, but you also have to worry that the idjits that are driving the bigger vehicles on the roadways aren't paying any attention to you, and you get the pleasure of dodging the less-than-intelligent pedestrians that cross the road when- and where-ever they please.  By the time you combine those things and some other negatives to the experience, well, it may not be worth it despite the enjoyment I get out of riding motorized two-wheeled vehicles.

Otherwise I intend to take along some novels and maybe read through one or two during the time away from home/work.  I have plenty to catch up on and have had too little time to actually get any real reading done lately.

I'll probably head out for a few meals with other family members, especially a nice brunch/breakfast with my parents, but that is really about all the farther I'm planning ahead at this point.

As long as your beach is not Long Island, I think you will be ok.  But oh boy would I love to have a surf board out at Virginia Beach today!
