yah I am not intrested in competitive quick match I want competitive freind empire vs friend empire vs computer empire on huge map with epic marthon speed so me and my friends are playing same game for months at a time like we do with civ 4 with unlimited amount of factions allowed into the game me three friens with 10 AI computers any one now that is a game.

Agreed 100% This is actually what I was hoping for and my major disappointment with elemental right now since i know bugs/gameplay issues are being worked on. I was actually suggesting my Roommate buy a copy so we could co-op but after testing the MP I've decided to not suggest it for our gaming night. We'll have to go back to Civ or something in which they don't remove so many of the features for mp mode.

Decent call, i got about 7 people to buy it in the lead up to release. Im kind of all there shit list atm as we still cant properly play multiplayer. :/

It basically explains that only PBEM can ever work and why.

In fact PBEM will allow pretty much all options to be in the game (as the OP wishes) except for tactical battle when two players are confronting each other. In Age of Wonders PBEM works extremely well, and that game has still a huge number of fans after 7 years from its distribution.

Dude. Seriously? We bang out 20+ hours of Civ4 in a weekend. You can disagree all you want but at the end of the day people want a starting point, and that starting point is single player. So it only makes sense to have the mutiplayer game be the same as single. Im not saying its the only way the game can be played, im simply saying multiplayer and single player should be one in the same.

By the way, when you use the term "In Fact" then proceed to say things that are not facts, and end the statement saying (as the op wishes) except .........

The OP (myself) Wants mutiplayer to be single player with humans. Im not going to read your post simply because the idea of playing by email to me isnt interesting. Once again not saying theres only one way, just saying PBEM isnt a good start. Playing is not "IMPOSSIBLE" as you so put it. People play long long strategy games all the time. Hell sometimes we play 18 hour games of sins of a solar empire. Its all about choice and a lot of people want mutli and single to be one and the same in these types of games, that way they are not limited to a un pure version of the game. Tactical battles also are a major part of the game, PBEM skipping them right there makes it a less then full version of the game. I want it all baby, the good the bad the ugly, and the takesfreakinforevertofinishagamesobuymoresodaplease.

It's not impossible, I've been playing multiplayer TBS games for decades.  Most recently this includes Civ 4, AoW: Shadow Magic, and Civ 5.  My group of friends does not play by email.

Non-PBEM AoW works extremely well too.

I think it's just too late, they've already seperated SP from MP with the new hybrid research tree, and disabled Tac Combat.

Thanks to a few ADD people, who should be playing FPS games , we won't be able to unleash the power of our units and will resort to automatic combat.

All the tactical combat spells you'll research, you'll have to HOPE your champions will use the ones you want. You'll almost have to relearn which tac spells are good based on which ones your characters will use... And judging on how apt, the AI was on using the spells in the tactical combat. I'm not feeling to confident.

Someone said it best earlier, about how people who do complex things can't do something simple. Well sir, you hit the nail straight on it's head. I mean why make it so different. Like some said before, it's like 2 different games. Rather then focus on fixing/balancing one game... you'll have "2 games" to support and update. I just don't understand the practical aspect of it... Well, the only thing I see is that they wouldn't have to try to balance the game while taking into consideration both Single & Multiplayer game issues.

To whoever is holding the reigns, Kill the hybrid MP game, use the SP game and add people. There you go. NO, NO! I see you, thinking about it too much there. Just do it. Thanks.
