Children reach maturity... FAST

Hey everyone,

I noticed that my Sovereign can have a kid at age 21, and by age 22-23 my kid is 20 years old... uh. Is this as designed?

Now if this is "normal" i can live with it, I was just curious.

Thanks,

V.

Huh. Usually my first kid doesn't come of age before I'm, like, 30something, which still means they aged 20 years in 10 years. Curious. I never looked at that before, I think I'll have to eye it.

Though I know that Brad stated at one point that the time per turn is intended to be meaningless, and that your kids come of age in X turns, and you can apply whatever timeframe you want to the turn schedule based on your own preference, and that that is why they only list what turn number you are on instead of what year. They meant for it to be abstract.

Your guy's an almighty immortal Sovereign, he could be like 100 and still look 23 or something. Age doesn't matter to him.

The poor children must have Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.  It's a tragic inherited disorder that has afflicted ten generations of my dynasty over the past 60 years or so.

It's a fun issue. If it took 200 turns for your kids to reach maturity, the system would be largely a waste of time.

I have never had a child grow up quicker than that, though I suspect it has to do with my gamespeed of Epic.

Gameplay.  Fun.  Yeah.  As someone else said in a similar thread, the sov is immortal/eternal or something and the kids aren't so they don't age quite the same.  ;)

In my games, by the time my kids are "coming of age" (and useable) I'm super deep in the tech tree and spellbook and the wolrd has heated up with wars and AIs dropping out.  If I'm aggressive, the game can be all but over by the time my first kid is leading their own army.  I usually marry as early as possible too.

Wait that raises the question, does the game speed affect it, I tend to play it on fast.
