I knew I is smart!
Stopped off this morning to get some breakfast from Chick Fil A (yummm! Chicken Biscuits!) and while there consuming the food I grabbed one of the Coffee News flyers that is there. Reading through that little flyer there was a "Did You Know..." item that noted that Research at the London School of Economics and Political Science reveals that people who have later sleep patterns (those who tend to be up later at night) seem to have higher IQs than those who are early risers.
See!?! I knew I is smart.

Seriously though, I may or may not be that much smarter then many other individuals (despite having been in the Academically and Intellectually Able group and testing with a fairly high IQ back when I was in high school), and there may or may not be a correlation that is definite and provable, though I defer to the fine folks at the London School of Economics and Political Science and other such research organizations to establish such evidence, but I do find it a little interesting that there might be such a correlation between being someone that burns the late night oil and being somewhat smarter than those that get up at the crack of dawn.
A good friend may beg to differ, as he is definitely an early riser. Me? I just don't see the sense in getting up that early just to go get in traffic with a bunch of idjits that all think they can beat the rush (that they in fact are causing, only earlier) if they get out on the roads earlier. I do snicker and laugh at my friend in knowing that by the time the 10pm news is on he's already headed to bed or darned near it even though I'm up and watching the TV shows of the day that day or am playing video games while the news runs in the background, or perhpas I'm entertaining the puppy, etc.
I do still wish that my daughter didn't have to suffer the early schedule that the school system imposes on her and that she and all students (well, all but the youngest who seem to wake up early anyway) could sleep later and go into school at more reasonable hours, after having a healthy breakfast and after having gotten a chance to get a sufficient amount of rest each day. Were that to happen perhaps we'd get more out of our future generations.
