Dynasties Between Factions

Dynasties Between Factions

Hello Everyone,

I'm having trouble understanding how dynasties between factions work, specifically how children are supposed to be born between the arranged marriages.  In my current game, I have two arranged marriages with another faction, but after 50+ turns I've yet to see any children be born to either couple.  I've tried hunting down the spouses on the world map to see if the two halves of the couple need to be in the same general vicinity as each other (such as with my avatar and his wife).  I couldn't find either of them.  The in-game encyclopedia was mum, as was the manual.

Does anyone know how this is supposed to work?  Do babies automatically spawn without the couple having to be near each other?  Does the arranged spouse become a hidden NPC in your faction or something?  Or do children only happen when someone assumes the throne?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Quoting awuffleablehedgie, reply 22really, competitive multiplayer means all players will play as Females for the quicker marriages.
I don't follow. Female sovs don't really have an advantage now that Janusk won't marry until after a certain prestige level. I find about 50/50 male/female heroes out there. It's really a shot in the dark.

It does make a difference because as a female, you guarantee that you have Janusk at the least will be there. If you go male, then you need to find out a female hero wandering around. If you bump into only male ones, you're screwed. OTOH, with a female sovereign, even if all the ones you find are female, you will always have Janusk.

Personally I think the best solution would be to make it so that Janusk starts as the opposite sex to what you select. If you're a male, he should become Januska ;)\

Another possible solution would be to alllow your sovereign to marry another faction's children. Perhaps some of the neutrals?

THis game has a lot of potential depth to it.  I hope it gets developed along that line.

When you marry off your female offspring, she ends up with the other nation, but does a son stay with you and you get his bride as well?  Does it mean your grandkids will go to them or theirs will come to you? and why can't you marry off your kids to your champions? why can't each city as a city state and have it's own nobility so to speak...  a champion that you have given that city to, so if you do not take care of him and it properly, they might splinter off and cause a seccession war...  so much potential.

I'm hardly an expert, but my experiences to date have shown that male children should be married off to another faction, as this nets you the wife, who will show up in your capitol as a controllable champion.  Marrying your female children off loses you that female, she joins the other factions, but HER children MAY choose to rejoin your faction, just as your son's children may desert you for the other grampa.  I haven't personally manage to inherit another faction by killing off the leader in favor of one of my grandchildren, but I read somewhere that it's possible, and if it's not, it should be.  But the short answer is, marry off your sons, but keep your daughters, unless they have lousy stats.  My most recent (1.07) game, my firstborn son was actually my fourth child, and since I kept all his sisters, I had to wait for ever for grandkids....

Damn if I can figure out how to get married I had a sovereign play to the 500+ turn level and leveled to 18th level and conquer all but a tiny spot of land and still couldn't find a wife.  I must be missing something here, could some one please fill me in.

There is a button on the Action bar you can use when you select a champion of the appropriate sex. It looks like a Ring. Click that.

Ah the old
Quoting kryo, reply 1AFAIK children have a small random chance to be born to any marriage after it's made. Being a wizard and all you need not be in the same tile to procreate.

Ah the old "A Wizard did it" excuse.

"Wait a second I was away for 5 years why do we have 3 children now?"

"Ummm Magic?"

"Ah okay then"

The idea of Janusk as a cuckold made me laugh out loud.

In all seriousness though, I recall that a strategy game from the nineties, Genghis Khan, that required the player's leader to spend time with his wife in order to have a chance to have children...

I think Janusk cuckolded you; you are the cuckold. Strictly speaking Janusk did nothing, aside from being brave and foolish, your wife is the cuckolder (although I don't think cuckolder is a word).
