Lockup/crash during Elemental campaign

I was playing through the Elemental campaign. I had just been defeated by the Troll and his lizard so I attempted to reload a previous save when the game locked up. I waited a minute or so then pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del, chose Task Manager, and got a message telling me Elemental had stopped working.
