The mysterious multisoldier!

I've come across a strange amalgam unit. Is this... part of gameplay? It doesn't seem intentional. Basically, this unit is identified as one soldier by the game, but displays as roughly 7. Its attack and HP are through the roof (27 and 148, respectively). In combat they appear as a strange morass of units, and move as one, taking up one tile. When attacked, a number of the "men" in the tile die, causing the "single enemy"'s attack and max HP to decrease.

Here's a picture on the map. I can post a save game, if necessary.

It's a feature.

When you research a bit in the military tree, you can build gangs of units, so 1 unit is actually 1, 3, 7... men inside a single unit, with aggregated stats.

I love the title and OP... If this is a joke you get props... :D

Yes, this is normal. Warfare techs allow you to create "squads" of a unit. Instead of training one guy at a time, you can just train a multi-guy squad.

Please post the save (there should be an icon for it with a number on it if it's a proper group).

Hmmm. If it's intended, I have to say that auto-resolve really doesn't work well with it at all. It usually results in no damage to the enemy and all my guys dead, whereas when I fight manually I usually kill them without taking damage.

Please post the save.

Everyone seems to be saying it's intended, but here ya go.

I don't think it is working as intended... grouped units appear to be getting unique individual person names. Instead of a "Company of Peons" we're getting Bob. It's slightly confusing and need a quickfix. It wasn't this way in beta... what happened? Stardock, you guys changed something in between launch and beta... or even after Brad's video.

I confirm the auto-resolve problem - except that I have it the other way round.

I saved before attacking the small spider at the very beginning. Attacked it in detail. We all got killed. Tried again. All got killed. Tried autoresolve: killed the spider, no losses.

Same with all other autoresolves, although I haven't had many yet...

Keep in mind that battles can play out differently because much of combat is random and chance. Check the "Details" section to see precisely what happened. Your units might just suck... or maybe you have a poor General in command of them...
