The crash seems to be related to the impending Imperium research. If I wait 4 turns, the game crashes. If I change the research, complete another line, then change it back to Imperium, it does not crash.

Also oddly, I noticed that on reloading my save game from last night that a Fire Shard which did not exist before is now present (north of Quon Tali, south of Darujhistan).

System Specs

Vista, C2D E6700, 4 gigs, GTX 260, onboard audio, latest drivers.

edit: I've abandoned this game as unplayable, it started crashing every few turns not long after this save file
