[MOD] Player Patch - Elemental Complete

Since the devs have stated in forums that certain advertised features have been moved from the game to the "Mod community", lets start collecting the list so that it can be compiled and this game completed as advertised by the players.  It looks like its up to us!  Post replies and I will edit this post to include the total list.  A team can then be assembled to work the items and release the patch to the public.

-True Random Map Generation

-Nation/Race Generation

A Tutorial for those of us who didn't play the Beta versions. It is a bit confusing even for a gamer with 20 years of experience.

I don't have the game, but someone complained that there are no big maps, so maybe adding bigger map sizes is a good idea for this mod.

Modding in a Faction Generator is going to be WAY more work then you'd expect. Just properly doing the UI would take an expert modder. Just wait for Stardock to do it.

Try coming up with a list of smaller fixes the community can plug before jumping at the two largest and most difficult issues.

P.S. I do believe that modding a larger map is possible and Brad even explained how to do it somewhere.

Just got my game, gonna add some things I've noticed from three minutes of playtime.

  • Mancer (Male) has no facial hair options
  • Mancer (Female) has no pants options and need more vests
  • Amerian (Female) has no eyes and needs more clothing options (mostly dresses) *
  • Krath (Female) have only one head option

* NOTE: I made a fix for this back in BETA 4. Check the mod section for my Character Mod.

They also removed a couple traits and backgrounds :( Time to start re-enabling everything and getting my mods back up and running :D

As of now, I think a random map generator would have to be an external program.

I'd love it if Stardock at least provided us with an explanation of the map file format, as I lost what little retro engineering I had done when they closed the beta forums.

Apparently truly random maps are possible if you delete the preset seeds, but Frog doesnt' recommend it because it throws balance out the window.

Sadly, it also throws exploration, unpredictability, and the fun that goes with them out the window. The modder objective should be to try and make a GOOD random map generator, since the current one apparently is worse than even Master of Magic's. Or it must be, anyway, because MoM kicked ass -- and it was making two random maps per game!

Everything should be randomized aside from that starting fertile land and being 'blocked in'.  You have good starts and bad starts, its about exploring and finding/making do with what you do/don't have near you.

New Day-0 Bugs/Concerns:

  • The dagger got nerfed and isn't really worth having anymore. It's almost as expensive as the Axe with less attack then the Spear. Also lost it's speed bonus :P
  • Bring back a Drake mini-faction!
  • Perhaps the armor basic techs (leather) should be available sooner and not after shortswords? I think it should be seperate and developed parallel to weapons. Thus, you can focus on either offense or defense.

For Stardock to Fix:

  • The "Inventory" button under the actions tab doesn't display right, wrong icon.

That's all I can come up with. Great game!

Mancer (Female) has no pants options

This is a problem?

*rimshot*

Seriously, would love to see some bigger map loving going on. Of course, I haven't even touched 10% of a large map in a game yet, so what am I complaining about?

I miss the "name your forest in your own world" feature that the devs came with months ago and it didnt quite cut it into final release :(

I vote for a patch including a big addition of new spells...

Let's call it "Elemental:War of Magic-Now with Magic"

There is already a big list of interesting spells to be added somewhere on the forums, now we need people to make the coding (I am totally unable to do it..)

The first time I heard "war of magic", I was like: "Yeah!! Masters of magic and dominions have a baby!"; now I have Civ with some "Pew! Pew!"...

The mod community really needs to address that, if not stardock..

Yeah, some of the simple stuff I really want. I also want facial variations between individual troops in the same unit. That always makes things look 90% more awesome.
