I have exactly the same problem. Crash on load in version 1.0. Is it possible that this is related to installing the game in a non default directory?
Also can't load a savegame here. I'll try redownloading and installing it in the default directory.
Mine only crashes on loads from within the game. If I restart the game it loads fine.
Same here as with Das123.
+1
I think I found a reason for crash!!!!
The game tries to load NORMAL autosave savegames, when you go to "Load" from compain.
Besides the crash itself, its wrong, if you go to "compain" menu (during compain of course) and load from there then it loads fine.
Btw: old beta autosavegames were not deleted upon uninstal and can be loaded.
Mine also crashes at load, each time I try to load an autosave. I'm not playing campaign for now.
All,
Please open Impulse and get the latest update for Elemental. We put one up at around 11pm last night. The debug.err at least for the OP says you haven't updated since Aug 17th.
If you need more direction (like because you've never used Impulse before) just let me know.

[edit]: apparently there was just a bug with the "last updated" text. It saying Aug 17th is okay, and you already have latest.
Same bug for me but with the 22.08 version so i guess that patch didnt fix it.
No patch available for me. I'm running version 1.0. Not sure why it would say the 17th.
Keldian or anyone running latest with crashes,
Can you give me the save file that is giving you crashes?
I don't think there's anything wrong with the save game file. This happens for me to, and only happens when I am in a game, and try to load the autosave. Every single time i do that, regardless of map (I haven't tried campaign), it will do this. It will not do it if I load a manually saved game. It will not do it if I start Elemental and load the autosave before loading or starting anything else.
So let's try something else, if you have a crash when loading a game, or any crash for that matter, please post your crash zip file, as indicated in the "how to report a problem" sticky post here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/391297
There is no single save file, it is crashing almost every time i load from while playing. Already tried a new game same thing. However i noticed the only time it does not lead to a certain crash is when i start the game load and load a save soon after. So there is a short time window it works. But playing for a few min and then loading any save file(auto or mine) is a guaranteed CTD.
Here is a debug.err.

This contains an error message and the save game that created it. It doesn't matter what save is used it will always crash, but only if loaded from within game. If the game is restarted the save file will load without an issue.
I tried two things that may help:
1. I loaded the quick-save then tried loading it again from within the game. In this instance it loaded without a problem.
2. Then I tried loading it and playing a turn (I moved the sovereign toward the adventurer). Then I tried loading the quick-save from within the game at the start of the next turn. This time it crashed. During the end of turn there was a spell researched if that helps. It almost seems as though the map is staying in memory like from a continue game but that the change in detail is an issue.
When it crashes it doesn't even start the load process (at least visually - no info screen). Just goes to a black screen then the error message and CTD.
Happens most times I try to load from in game and once when I tried to start a new campaign after main-menuing from a saved game

Same issue here. If I try to load while I'm currently playing, the game will crash. If I load after freshly loading Elemental, all is OK.
