How do I get food?

I can't build a hut because there is no food. I bought a turkey leg from the merchant but that doesn't count as food for the city.

Will there be a tutorial for the day 0 release or sometime soon after? I'm currently pretty lost but it sure is a neat game. I actually really like the graphics too.

Build a farm on fertile ground.

The campaign includes tutorial stuff.

I clicked on the fertile ground square and was then able to build the farm, thanks.

I'm playing the campaign but haven't seen an actual tutorial.

There's no tutorial stuff beyond what's in the campaign, and the videos that were posted.

Also... use whatever unit you use to create towns (usually pioneers) to establish farms where your town cant reach but within your borders. Took me a while to figure it out in the beta, feel bad about the towns I starved while I figured that one out.
