Sunday Morning has come and Gone, "Midday" is just about over? Update Please?

Frogboy, do you think we could get an update as to what is going on? I'm not sure what the point of getting us all excited for no reason would be, other then just to torture us. Is that what this is? BECAUSE I AM BEING TORTURED.

It'll still be a couple of hours. Bear in mind we're between gold and day 0 so we're having to put this stuff together. We weren't even planning on being here today.

Thanks for putting in the effort for us even though you don't really have to. Even though I only pre-ordered a few days ago, it's nice to see a company that is willing to put this much effort into pleasing their pre-orders.

Its like x-mas as a kid.

There you are, looking att the tree with all the gifts.

But so close and still so far, you must wait for the grownups to finish ther eating.

Never was time moving so slow.

So you stayd in your place, imagining the wounderfull things santa would bring.

With a sigh you look at the clock on the wall.

Still not time, but soon.

Stardock ROCKS - seriously quality programming backing up well thought out gameplay, AND great support for early adopters.

{refresh}

FrogBoy rocks too - not sure where he got that hardened thick skin, but I sure appreciate it!

{refresh}

Where's that Jobs link...?

... {refresh} ... ARGH! {refresh}  :P

It's out when it's out.  It looks like we're getting it a bit early, so that's great.  Getting stressed out because it's running a bit late or because retailers broke the street date isn't worth the wasted energy.

Who are you talking to, exactly?  I don't see anybody stressing out.

I still have a point. Brad saying preorders and beta testers getting it early is the "privilege" part. Release date is 24th, that hasn't changed.

Just because you call it privilege does not make it any different. People have pre-ordered to get this privilege, thus it is their privilege and they are understandably upset when the promise was not fulfilled. (though it is time only for beta testers)

Release date = promise that everyone should be able to play game on particular date.

Pre-reliease for preorders and beta testers = promise that beta testers and pre-orders will be able to play on another earlier date.

I do not see much difference, no matter how you call it, privilege or not. People paid money for the game, people were promised to be delivered on particular date, the promise is not fulfilled, people are upset. I do not see any contradictions here.

Did you order the game thinking it would come out on the 22nd?  I don't think anyone really knew that until within the past day or so.  If you made your purchase with the original date of the 24th in mind (or possibly the 23rd), that time has not yet arrived.  Your promise-at-purchase has been kept.

If you are truly dissatisfied, don't buy the likely add-ons or future products.  If EWoM is anywhere as good as GalCiv2, we are already getting a great product with amazing product support through patches that address technical and gameply issues.

Really, Stardock's gang seems to be the most dedicated in the business.  If there is anyone worth grousing about, it's not them.

What I'd like to know is that only for beta testers first then later for pre-orders.  Otherwise their servers could crash because too many people would D/L the game at the same time.  Unfortunately, I pre-ordered the game. :'(

Man, that poor kid. What kind of person would do that. Its like, yeah lets get their hopes way up and then squash em on Christmas. Ya just feel sorry for that kid. It's fine to give clothes, for for crying out loud, use a regular box or, better yet, no box at all. Just wrap it in paper so it feels like clothes.

People just need to whine, I think. Probably a very cathartic experience when they have such intense feelings of entitlement bottled in.

Thanks for the work. It's just a little frustrating.

I was especially hopeful to get some Elemental time coming in today, since my weekday schedule is stuffed full of crud I don't want to do, starting about about 5pm tonight.

Which is 12am in London, Guess i won't be downloading or playing until after work tomorrow, think i might just wait the extra day and play it with the 0day patch.

Yup, because when someone tells you they'll do something, and then doesn't do it, any affront is evidently down to your sense of entitlement.

Let me just explain this to my boss when I don't show up at work tomorrow and I'll get back to you on this.

Despite not wanting to hear peoples excitement over wanting the game immediately, it's better they are looking forward to the game then nobody caring.

It's 23:40 here and tommorow is work day, so goodnight everyone, i'll catch up after work (although i may download the game from my work computer  ). Hope the game lives up to our expectations

Not a great analogy, no offense.  When I pre-ordered the game, the page said the 24th.  I had no reasonable expectation that it would be available before then.  If Stardock failed to deliver on the 24th you'd be a little closer.

This is more like your boss calling you in on your day off because [something unexpected happened.]  He asks you to fix it and you give a quick estimate which ends up being wrong.  As with any impromptu response to an unexpected event, things are already not going according to plan, so estimates are frequently going to be wrong.  *shrug*

I'm disappointed it's not available yet as well, but them's the breaks.  What's that saying?  Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment?  ;)

I fake work at Stardock and it'll be up at 10pm EST tonight for only 50 people.
