Slightly sad today...

Patricia NealSlightly sad today after reading of the passing of accomplished actress Patricia Neal.  She had a long and fairly fruitful career, going back into the days of true classics.  While I remember her more for her work in advertisements for pain killers (aspirin and such) and coffee, I knew her from many other things as well, including her work in the film version of The Fountainhead, and The Day the Earth Stood Still.  Perhaps the best known role to me was her work opposite John Wayne in the film In Harm's Way.  I didn't realize that she'd been offered the Mrs. Robinson role in The Graduate, but I'm not terribly surprised that she had to turn it down given her health issues at that point in her life.

RIP Ms. Neal

In other news, the weekend remained fairly quiet.  Talked to my grandmother just to check in and see how she was doing.  My mother had mentioned that she was fighting off a nasty rash of some sort and that had her feeling a bit miserable.  She most likely was allergic to something she encountered when working in her garden area, but it's hard to know for sure.  Hopefully whatever it was will be gone soon enough and she can get back to her normal aches and pains.

My parents are planning the yearly trip down to the beach and I'm trying to figure out how that will come together for us (my daughter and myself) this year since we've now got the puppy to work with.  We may take the pup along to the beach, but then again she may not care much for the ride down and back.  While she's done ok on the car trips we've taken her on (home from the breeders to our house, and then back and forth to the vet), she's still small and can't be let loose in the car so she has to ride in the small carrier and doesn't get to hang her head out the window to enjoy the ride.  If we don't take her along then we have to impose upon friends or other family members to please feed her and take her out for her walks, but if we do take her along she may get a bit car-sick so neither seems to be a great choice.

Additionally, the time share location that my parents have a slot at charges extra for having animals, at least via a deposit that has to be paid in advance.  I don't mind picking up the tab for that as it's not that much more (if any) than what we might pay in boarding the pup at another location.  Decisions, decisions.

Oh well, I'll stop here for now, but hopefully catch up more later.  I hope everyone has a great week.

Great pictures!  I was unaware of the Graduate role myself!

As for the puppy, she will ride easier now than when she grows up! ;)
