Modding Guides, Tutorials, References, Tips, Hints, and Tools

Frogboy wanted someone to gather his Mod Week stuff together, so here it is. But I'm taking it a step further, and adding in all the guides and such that have been posted here so far. And of course it will be updated as people post new guides.

Good stuff. This should probably be sticky'ed in preparation for "Mod week".

Yep!:P Still waiting for the Twitter to come back, but I suspect Boogie is just a little too busy to do it for now, what with all that stuff about actually making the game and all:P

And yes, hopefully this will get stickied in the near future. Please?:pout:

Try hitting them up on M.i.r.c. or Skype.

Notice anything different about this post? :P Thank you!

Someone needs to do a modding guide for adding spells... although I'm sure it'll probably be easy to figure out... it's probably the first thing I want to do...

The list is updated. If you think there is a tutorial/tool/etc that I missed, let me know.

I wrote a guide of setting up Eclipse as an Elemental work environment (better searching of the game XML files etc).

Oops, I saw that when you posted it a couple days ago, and made a mental note "I need to make sure I add that to the list" and then promptly forgot when I was going through and updating. Sorry about that. It's up now. I put it in the tools section for now, but if you think it fits better under the guides I'll move it (it's a guide to set up a tool, so really it should go under both:P )

I think tools is the right spot. :) Eclipse is a great program and extremely extendable but setting it up and understanding it can be a bit tricky for the uninitiated. Added a few screenshots now as well.

Elemental Font Example

I'll add a plug for my Elemental font file as well.  It's not really a tool, but it is a graphic resource for anyone who wants to use the EWOM typeface to create any graphics for their mods.  Just download the file and have Windows install it in the approperiate font folder.  The file can be found here.

I'm writing a fairly detailed tutorial on adapting mod xml files to make races unique with regards tech, spells, units, buildings and items.

First, thanks for creating these posts (this and the list of mods). It's great to be able to locate everything in one place.

Second, could you add Heavenfall's eLIB post to this one? https://forums.elementalgame.com/397668 . It's more for modders so I think it fits better in this post.

Updated. The "Frogboy's Stuff" section is being changed to "Developer Stuff" to reflect the fact that other developers are starting to post modding stuff.
