Back to a mostly political article for the day...
First, continued thoughts (because of the continued news) about just how much wrath the INcompetent individuals that were managing/running Arlington Cemetery deserve. Apparently the problems there go back *at least 5 years* though that is, I firmly believe, just the tip of the iceberg as that 5 year mark is just when the earlier reports had come in. The problems might have been going on for years before that. Those problems should have been resolved years ago and never, ever, should have been problems to begin with. Again, it is a special place and because of that MISTAKES must not happen. When they do happen they should be immediately rectified and procedures should be updated as necessary to ensure that the mistakes never happen again. Given the reported problems, I'm of the opinion that a complete housecleaning might not be a bad thing there.
Second, the Solomon style decision of the judge that was reviewing the Arizona "Immigration" law shows on my RADAR as something that is just bad news and stupid. With that said, it seems that in some ways the judge might just have laid out a road map for the state to come back with an even tougher law. If the original law supposedly discriminates because not everyone has to show documentation then the citizens of the state can look forward to *everyone* having to show documentation. If there are other problems that supposedly make the law discriminatory then apply the same fix. Sorry legal citizens, show you are legal. If I lived there I'd have no problem with that. Carry a PASScard (Passport card), Passport, or other documentation and produce it when stopped. It might cost those citizens a little money to get the cards once every 10 years, but it would eliminate any supposed possibility of discrimination -- assuming that the law was applied as originally discussed/designed: someone that has commited another (original) violation will have their immigration status checked.
At this point I'd like to see the state of Arizona sue the bejeezus out of the Feds to have them pay the many billion$ of lost revenue that they must waste carrying the burden of all of the illegals that pass through or settle in that state.
