For the sake of using some Sins voices yes I hope for the amarr to use the advent.  Please give feedback on the release so far so I know which way to head with things.

ps I spawned that Erebus with developer, so you know its NOT part of Caldari Ship Tree!!

 

 

 For all you watching this mod just know I am trying to scale down the Sins method of handling music. As it stands right now the "sounds" folder is only 1/4 complete and we are seeing over 192mb in that folder alone. Since Sins preloads everything using this much music is both a waste of download time as well as Sins resources. Once I can figure a sure fire way to scale down the music playlist I can see us saving about 2/3 total memory usage from this folder alone. 

 

I am also trying to clean up my textures and mesh folders as they have begun to spread themselves into a mess. I hope the next release will be a cleaner more efficient Sins of New Eden...

Sounds very nice, although it can be as many gigs as you want it to be if i can play with yummy eve ships. :D

edit: just tested it out and i gotta say that the ships sure look sweet, i also liked the background and the music/sounds you had added. You plan on putting in new structures aswell? i only played eve a little a long time ago. so cant really remember if it had alot of various structures lying around. Are there any models for starbases, orbital defences, shipyards etc? I hope you plan on staying somewhat true to the ships abbilities in EVE, and not just drop them over the old abbilities. So many totally unrealistic abbilities in standard sins imo (like the marzas missile swarm :P)

Oh yeah over to a totally different thing, ive always wondered why only cap ships can level up, why not normal ships aswell? not saying they would need abbilities, just an added benefit in hull, shield,attack. Would be like veterancy in other games, always missed that in sins. Maybe it would take way too much machine power?

As far as I understand, sins music and sounds are 1 thing that is loaded when needed but loading a 10mb song might slow it down a little. For TSOP I lowered all the sound and music from 128kb/sec oggs to 112kb/sec oggs which saved almost 300 megs in space.

I plan on making alternate soundtrack downloads to stack with my mod.

my fist if you look at the total number of tracks to me they are too numerous, if I delete them off the manifest will it not try to load them anymore?

The game uses SoundMusic.sounddata which is linked from each Player<RACE>.entity. Here is the list from playerPSI.entity

So if you remove a track from the SoundMusic.sounddata, make sure the Player<RACE>.entity does not try to access it. Like I said though, it only makes for a larger download and will not effect game play.

Harpo i meant the soundmusic.sounddata I want to reduce the download size as I am using some of the tracks more than once anyways. Thanks for pointing out I need to remove it from both the  .sound and the playerrace files!!!

I got a complete collection of the Caldari ships in .X format from a modeler helping me out, now just to get it all over to .obj and into XSI and hopefully I can figure it out from there :P Stay tuned for  a hole lot of new ships!

Will the mod have factions that aren't playable in Eve, such as the Jovians or Concord? Also will the mod be more of just aesthetics or will you redo a few core components to give more ships and be more similar to Eve?

Interesting this seems to be an up to date and still alive EVE mod going on here. I used to be a EVE player a few years back, had to quit cause money got tight and I got bored with the game. Caldari and Amarr specialization =3 That aside it's good to see my old batteship in game xD and I don't mean the scorp... I mean the shotgun looking one :P the large boomstick as it is :D

right now I have been using wizehive.com too get us all together and stuff, but havent had much success with it. I ran into some road blocks with a few meshes and cant really seem to push forward.  

 

All that has been done on the mod I have personally done so far, mainly a few things, The process of changing the standard TEC race to Caldari. 

 

What I need is people who want to write .ent files for the ships and effects, make the research trees, and once the Caldari are complete help with the next races. 

 

That is where I am at with it :D
