Green Day

I have a lot of respect for Green Day. Holiday has a very Clash thing going on. At the end of this video is a very honest rep of what it means to be famous. Tre might be the best drummer since Keith Moon. He is certainly entertaining. The bassist is very good. I think he is the cement of this band. Of course, I am nuts.

True, it was an overstatement on my part. Tre isn't the best, but he certainly is fun.

Yeah, I heard of Rush, bad a couple of albums. They had some good stuff, but that was an era where much of that music just didn't hold up well. I think it was the synthesizers.

   Certainly entertaining. I don't think I have seem more effort used in such a limited song ever. Don't get me wrong, it is a very fun song. The band in the video sucks, but the drummer is fun. Thanks for sharing.

As I said, I overstated Tre. I like him and the band. Billy Joe is wonderful and I am sure those that know Green Day and love them, it is like saying the sun rises.

That said, way back in the day when I was barely out of high school, I went to a great event that doesn't occur anymore. It was called the "Texas Jam" and was in the Astrodome. For $20 the lineup was

  • Rush (Grace Under Pressure tour)
  • .38 Special (Tour de Force tour)
  • Ozzy Osbourne (Bark at the Moon tour)
  • Bryan Adams (Cuts Like A Knife tour)
  • Gary Moore (Victims of the Future tour)
  • It was June 8th, 1984. Somehow wikipedia fails and only mentions Dallas that year. Of the bands, 38 special surprised me the most. Ozzie was, well, Ozzie. Bryan Adams was ok and Rush was disappointingly ok. Too many lasers and other stuff. The band just kind of hung out. My wife, who was my girlfriend at the time agreed. At least for that night, Rush was like Pink Floyd, a studio band.

The concert lasted forever. Each band had at least an hour set, so definite value for the buck. I can't believe what concerts go for now.

Best Drummer? Well I took lessons for 9 years.......but I would have to say Neil Peart (Rush) and definitely Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater).

    Just watch this video:
