if that happens hit F5 and see if a refresh makes them show up...

Do you mean it doesn't show in some skins, or it doesn't show sometimes while using the same skin?

do you mean the shellstyle image? sometimes folders forget what kind of content they have.You have to reassign it a folder function by right clicking an empty area of the window and use 'customize this folder'

If it's the shellstyle image you mean, you have to use a bmp set to indexed colour for it to show up.
The smaller one in the left pane can be RGB though.

Strange, but I find just the opposite to be the case ............... if I save these images as anything other than 16 million colors, they disappear.

Its the "one' pixel thing in the skinning guide.

Sometimes I have to reset the folder views back to default settings to get the images to show again.
