Base Faction & Unit files.

Where?

This might be a long shot. Odds are that they're hidden or packaged away somewhere.

Just got the latest beta patch. Things actually seem to be running pretty stable, for a change. I even managed to make a Sovereign without things crashing. Since the faction creation function has been taken out, to be part of the modding tools in Beta 4 (goddamn), I thought I'd screw around with the basic .xml-files.

Not just to make my own faction/nation/kingdom, but also to yoink that crown off Krax and put in on my very much insane Sovereign, Gharbaad the Mad (brownies for anyone who gets the reference).

But I can't find the files anywhere. In the Units folder, only my own Gharbaad is visible.

So, any chance to have a crack at this or are all the files safely stuffed away in some packaged file somewhere? :(

Somewhere in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\Temp\English, I'd imagine. Sovereigns and units you can build are in CoreUnits.xml. Not sure which file enemies are in, but I didn't look very hard.

I hate how files for a single game is spread all across the computer these days.

That said, I managed to find C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic, but there's no \Temp\ folder to be seen anywhere.

I think the betas have been getting the information from the server, including beta 3B I think, so I don't think it can be edited at the moment. :-(

Best regards,
Steven.

I'm pretty sure this is correct. IIRC, we have to wait until beta 4 to actually be able to mess with any of the xml.

In C:\Users\(your user name)\Documents\My Games\Elemental\Units you can find the xml files for your own custom units, including sovereigns. You can even create a mounted sovereign.

Has anyone had any luck locating any more modding data related to units? I was hoping I'd be able to make some custom heroes/champions. Also, is there a list of the equipment, abilities, and bonuses? Has anyone released any of their custom units yet (or mods, in general)? Lastly, how would one go about updating a portrait or "medallion"?

EDIT: Lots of custom sovereigns here, any really good/unique ones?

Wait until Beta 4 for all the modding data. Right now all you can access is the custom sovereigns. In the main Elemental directory (c:\program files x86\stardock games\elemental for Vista/7) there is a Gfx folder with all the art, just edit those.
