In my opinion people who are against Marijuana for what-ever reason have simply bought into the Anti Marijuana Propaganda, nothing more or nothing less.

OR they just haven't done the research.  Big Alcohol and the DEA have done a good job of keeping the true facts on marijuana in the United States suppressed.

Personally, I have some stubborn pink lungs, so I'm not a smoker; I also don't have an addictive personality, so when I need to come down from a particularly hard day, a half glass of wine does the trick for me.  However, I am totally pro-marijuana ever since I read the book "Ain't Nobody's Business" by the late Peter McWilliams.  It's such an important book, you can read it free (LEGALLY -- don't have to pirate it) right here: http://www.mcwilliams.com/books/aint/toc.htm

I am Pro-marijuana because I'm a thinker.  This plant could save our country.  Unfortunately, those whose pockets are lined by keeping it illegal are very powerful people.  Even if every state in the union legalized it, the feds would step in and cease the product.  It happened just last week in Mendocino County, California, where a legal medical marijuana grower had her farm eradicated by the DEA, despite the fact that she had done everything the state and county laws required of her.  You can read about it here: http://www.ukiahdailyjournal.com/ci_15530520

I'll definitely keep my eye on further progress on this case.

Yep. Some are legal, used by doctors, dentists, and psychiatrists. Others are illegal.

So, that would include sugar, caffeine, music, sleep deprivation.  Should we be prosecuting someone for eating too much fudge?  For drinking a grande latte?

To be fair, music and sleep deprivation aren't classified as substances :P

Also used by everyday people, like caffeine and nicotine.  And of course alcohol.

Yep, I agree with you totally!  Even legal drugs cause lots of problems and people get addicted to them too sadly.

That is true, LightStar. By technical definition Marijuana is a "drug". I won't argue that fact. I just don't see marijuana as a "Bad Drug" such as cocaine or crystal meth.

Indeed, m'lady, quite right. All those things are also considered drugs by definition (except maybe sleep deprivation). Sleep deprivation causes the body to experience "drug like affects". At close to 72 hours the human brain starts to experience natural hallucinations, also known as "waking dreams" which are caused by "micro naps".

I could go way off into the topic of sleep deprivation as I've been subjected to it before in my life, but, I'll save that story for another time.

Yes, and people even get addicted to sugar and caffeine, too much salt is another problem, and fudge will downright kill you (LOL, not really)!  We are talking about medicinal and illegal drugs here, lets not get off on tangents please.

Indeed. It's a very sad but true fact. I'm living proof with what I'm going through right now medically. I talk a little about physical addiction to prescribed meds in my long post on page 1.

All drugs are bad drugs, legal or otherwise, if abused. Marijuana is also a bad drug, as in a lot of cases it leads to using other drugs of a more dangerous nature.  I have seen people do really strange things while under the influence of Marijuana, even die unfortunately. So you will never convince me that it is a good drug, as there is no such thing in reality.

You haven't heard about the digital drug craze, it is going to ruin the youth of this country and should be stopped! Somebody dig up Henry Anslinger and make up some laws! JK but seriously you can't legislate morality! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its wrong Lightstar.

I can attest to that. I'm 100% physically addicted to caffeine. Ironically, I've been smoking pot for over 10 years and can stop completely with no ill effects. There's also little doubt that alcohol and tobacco are far worse in causing addiction and heath issues. Combined with the fact the government could stop spending billions fighting it, and instead tax it, leaves very little reason not to legalize it.

All drugs are bad drugs, legal or otherwise, if abused.

So if they are abused on an individual basis, that means the drug is bad?  Saturated fat is abused and heart disease is the #1 killer in the US.  Video games are abused, TV is abused.  Seems like the problem is primarily with people.

Marijuana is also a bad drug, as in a lot of cases it leads to using other drugs of a more dangerous nature

Wrong.

I have seen people do really strange things while under the influence of Marijuana, even die unfortunately.

Not from Marijuana you haven't.

MYTH!  http://www.drugwarfacts.org/cms/node/43

By the same standards you can say MILK in a lot of cases causes the use of more dangerous drugs ... most heroin addicts drank milk in their lifetime, ergo, MILK causes heroin addiction.
