I think that would be a good idea, if not now then when dynasties become more important powerful (which I believe has been implied for a future update/expansion).

Wait...so if they are in the same stack in the field somewhere, they just have the kid right then and there, in the middle of the field?

So, does that mean for realism that they have to really roll that stroller around? You have the baby as part of the stack? Their stats drop because they are tending to the baby?

I think some things just need to be left unrealistic for the sake of a fun game.

I do not want to have to stay home with my spouse in order to have kids. I think that is stupid and hurts game-play. Being able to have children with any woman/man would be a valid input though. I like the idea of having a bachelor/bachelorette sovereign and being able to pop out many kids to serve as heroes.

Also as a further retort, the powers of magic make it so that one would not need physical contact to have a child.

to wit: Your male sovereign is out adventuring in the fields. Lonely, he longs to see his lady friend. He casts Mystical Vision and then sees that she is well. Being a horny dog, he proceeds to cast  Mystical Shlong Of The Infinite; and he and his lady friend get busy from two hundred miles away. Erotic bliss ensues.

The ability to have multiple partners/ multiple spouses.

So lets say you have children by 3 women... Hera, Julia, and Artemis.

You basically would have the Hera Dynasty, the Julia Dynasty, and the Artemis Dynasty. All 3 you would have to appease, or else risk civil war.

I think it does in its current form, but if dynasties became a full fledged and powerful gameplay element in the future than I think it would be prudent to impose some restrictions (that also happen to make it more realistic/immersive).  And it would be cool to be able to impregnate non-spouses but again, if the dynasty thing was fleshed out, there could be caveats.  For example, your bastard children have less of a definitive claim to the "royal bloodline" or whatever, and you would have to do a quest or wait for an additional period of time to use of them, with the benefit of having more of them.  They could even go Mordred and work against you, joining another faction (do they already do that?) or even starting a minor faction, sort of like in Alpha Centauri (or at least the Planetfall Civ 4 mod) when minor factions would be formed mid game.   

One thing to consider is that the beliefs of different societies throughout history have not always matched those of our own society. So realism as you define it is not actually realism.
