My Fourth of July Holiday

My fourth of July holiday was definitely one to remember.  My husband and I took a trip to see his father and step-mother for the holiday and spent the day with them.  It was a really fun day and I'm definitely thinking about making it a tradition for every fourth of July.

We got to their house early in the afternoon and they were so happy to see us.  My father-in-law took my husband out back to see and help work on the new barn that he's been building.  That left the cooking of the meal to my mother-in-law and I, which I was more than happy to do.  She is a great cook and I was eager to learn from it.  We ended up making some tasty food and the men came in and shared it with us.

We were all so full from the meal that we had the idea to watch a movie.  We started watching A River Runs Through It, but it was way too serious for us at the moment.  Thus, we decided to go outside and hang out until the fireworks started.  We talked for hours, and we got to hear some pretty funny stories about their fight over one of these and how their new dog tore open and ate a whole bag of iams dog food.  The fireworks were great and before we left my mother-in-law gave me some very pretty turkish jewelry she had just bought for me.  We are so grateful to have such great parents to spend our holidays with.
