Just another day...

Ah, settling back into the routine at work is just so much fun.  Seriously, it always seems to be a few days (weeks?) after a vacation until you get back into the swing of the work habits and stop thinking about how you wish you'd had just a few more days of vacation. Such seems to be the case for me now as I'm trying to concentrate on work and remind myself that except for a few days off here and there between now and the end of the year, I'm pretty much done taking time away from work now, at least until next year.

I am starting to plan next year's vacation(s) though, and have some special events in mind.  If things work out, I think I'll be quite happy.  As things currently sit, I think I'd be happy to be batting .500 for my current plans, but if I can somehow luck out on the two-fer that I'm currently thinking of, then it's going to be a great vacation season for me next year.

I see news about Steinbrenner has already hit here at JU, including an amusing joke about Steinbrenner trying to work some trades in the afterlife.  As a former Oriole's fan, I admit to loathing Steinbrenner.  Hell, as a fan of the game, I loathed him because of what his free spending did to the competitive balance for the league as a whole.  Still, I begrudgingly acknowledge that he has his place in baseball history and certainly fans of the Yankees owe him a huge debt for the efforts he put into delivering championships for them.

Oh well, back to the grindstone.  Hope everyone has a great day :-)

He spent because he could.  But he never broke the rules, always playing within them.  Which is more than many can say.  I do not like the Yankees, but I do admire and respect Steinbrenner for what he brought to the game.
