I REALLY NEED HELP

(LogonUI.exe- Unable to locate Component)

I was pretty much uninstalling Mcafee from my computer, and I restarted my computer and all, but to my suprise my startup screen pops up with this crap of a message that my Logon program has 'failed' to start because MSCTF.dll was not found, and that re-installing the application may fix the problem...and at this point I am super furrious...

I am not that skilled of a computer person, but i have tried: safe modes of all versions, reverting back to last known working configurations, alt+ctl+del, and all newbie actions. I am quite desperate to fix the problem, and really am looking for some solutions, if anybody has an answer I am all ears (plz if you're a computer pro, dumb it down a bit)

Command Prompt:

Command: sfc /scannow

If you can get into Safe Mode: Start / All Programs / Accessories / Command Prompt. Click on it and type sfc /scannow

Hit Enter.

If you can't get to Safe Mode, put the Windows CD in, boot to it and do a repair. (if you don't know how to do a repair, Google: 'Performing Windows Repair' - it will be the first hit)

MOST of the time to get to safe mode is to Hit F8 steadily (like every second)  F8 F8 F8 (Note: Not F and 8) at start up or a restart

when you see the black screen with a flashing cursor prompt start hitting F8 F8..

it is always a good idea to run a Anti-Virus Uninstaller from the Anti-Virus maker after uninstalling it from ADD and REMOVE PROGRAMS (XP)

(win Se7en) it will be PROGRAMS and FEATURES.

Easier way to open Command Prompt cause more then likely you'll  have to have it as Admin.

on the desktop HOLD down the SHIFT key and right click then click on OPEN COMMAND WINDOW HERE

IN THE cmd window  just past sfc /scannow   after you copy it from here.  and it will take some time for it to run....

sfc /scannow

1. Do what Yrag tells you regarding your computer/problems. It will repair any missing files you might have.

2. Also, DC is 100% correct about reading how to uninstall various programs. Not all like the Microsoft Uninstaller.

If you are running Windows XP, browse to C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and see if MSCTF.dll is there, (should be 291KB in size).  If it is there copy it to C:\Windows\system32 and reboot.  If it is not there and you are on Windows XP, send me a PM with your email address and I will send you the file to use.
