A forgotten possibility........

Even though we are only 18 months in the Obama administration.  Names are already being tossed around for Obama's next opponent.  People are saying: Sarah Palin, Jed Bush, the Governor of NJ, and among several other names (Dick Cheney's name was mentioned very briefly).  I wish Fred Thompson's name was mentioned for I like him a lot on many different levels (especially him giving Moore a TKO smack down) but I don't think he'll run again.

The individual I am referring to is very intelligent and has a lot of political experience.  It seems like they are trying to keep out and stay under the radar by teaching.  There are several issues that may be potential stigma to this individual.  First, they are single (whenever anyone is older and single there is always that rumor about them being a homosexual).  Second, they were put into a tough situation due to their gender.

The individual is Condoleezza Rice.  The tough situation was sending a woman to the Middle East to negotiate.  Now, I know that feminist movement is a huge roar (I hear it constantly in fact daily) here in the States (how I wish the feminist movement would just end *note I am for women rights but I am not for all the non-sense that comes with this movement) but in some countries the feminist movement is non-existent.   Sending a woman to the Middle East (now and then) is not an affective ploy.  Most Arabs and Arab countries, view this as an insult.  They loved Bill Clinton so much because he came and tried to do it himself.  I know I'm going to hear people say 'well they just need to accept our culture.'  No, they do not especially when you're negotiating.

I don't agree with everything that Ms. Rice stands for.  Yet, I think she would do a great job a President.

Thoughts?  She did survive that whole Iraq war fiasco when the press was saying that she lied.  I still feel that Saddam had stuff that either we are not being told or heck he had enough time to get rid of it.  I mean our media was giving the warning signals about us invading a week or so in advance.  That conversation is for another time.

I guess there is some research (I love research!) that shows that during a crisises that in politics women get elected.  Probably because women are seen to be trustworthy and comforting.

Fred Thompson is a quitter.  I like his policies, but he just does not have the heart for running for Office.  Christie is outstanding!  But he is boxing himself in to his current job with his Rhetoric.

Palin is great, but I think she is going to stay on the outside for now.  No more Bush or Clinton, so forget Jeb (Although he might be the best of the Bush bunch).  Condi would be outstanding, but like Thompson, she has no stomach for the campaigns.

Watch the Gulf.  If Obama continues to tank it over the spill, Jindal may be the man to beat.

I like Jindal.  He is very intelligent and very articulate.  Through his study of sciences shows that he can actually think and the fact that he is Governor demonstrates this.  I agree with most of his core values.  The thing I know may be hard for him is that he is Indian and a Roman Catholic.  I don't think those will be major issues though for him to overcome.  I know people will try to pin him as an elitist (using state helicopters) and being too 'young'.  I think the age (with age comes wisdom and I don't feel the oil spill will be the only major fiasco Obama admin will face.  Mark my words, this was only the first. By the time we reach 2012, I think we'll be looking for someone old, not ancient due to that stereotype. ) and possible elitist charge will hurt him.

The elitist charge is obviously not entirely fair, but I can see that being used against him.

P.S. the blog site has been acting up. Are they updating it?

I knew the former, but not the latter.  I think religion is becoming less of an issue (after all Kerry and Biden are HDoO Catholics).

I feel you are correct.  Obama is definitely no JFK.

As for the site, I am not sure.  It was terrible yesterday but seems better today.

Doc, to Fred Thompson's credit he did say that he was only running to bring forth the UHC plan and to speak on how bogus/bunk it was.  This was the reason Michael Moore was trying to attack him but Thompson gave him a verbal smackdown.   Condoleezza Rice,  I think she does have the stomach.  She took so much abuse while with the Bush Administration especially from other black politicians or other black leaders saying that she was only playing black or was accidently black.  That's a very offensive comments.  Imagine, Doc (I'm guessing you're white) imagine if I said that you only playing the white military man or you were accidently a white military man (I think Nitro was sort of being accused of playing a military officer or that he was accidently a military/meaning you're a poser in another post).  Its offensive.  She stuck in there through almost the entire Bush administration (I don't think she was there in the very beginning, was she?).

I like Palin (she's very photogenic) and I agree with a lot of what she says.  I really hope that she doesn't run though.  I think she would be best staying on the sidelines and helping the potential candidates raise money and getting their message across.  I get the feeling she probably will run.  If she does run and wins, I really feel that Obama has a good chance of winning again.  Even with the Oil mess/senate seat favors and future messes (the Oil mess has shown terrorist the lack of leadership and how divided/preoccupied we are with non-sense (the Oil fiasco is not non-sense here).

A final note, Bill Clinton is speaking his mind and saying to Obama you best do something about the oil mess.  Finally!

TPP - Condi - yes, she was there the whole time (administration).  First as just a policy adviser, then as SOS.  And yes, she is tenacious!  She can do anything she sets her mind to, and has proven it.  I just do not think she has a mind to run for president.  She took all the bigots had to dish out with grace and dignity.  But I think she is satisfied with her previous role and does not want to go through it again.  Just because you can do something does not mean you want to do it.

Thompson - Yes, he made an excuse and I do  not fault him (other than he was my horse in the race).  But he has shown he is a great leader of the party, just not a great campaigner.  But I think perhaps it goes a step further as well.  He knows that running on a platform is not the same as governing from that platform.  And compromises must be made.  And he just does not care to make them

As for Palin, yes, she is a creature (not creation) of the media.  They have done a good job demonizing her (just check out what Leauki says about her).  But Obama is bad enough that I think Palin could win, although it would be a lot closer than it should be.  Still, you are correct - she can do more good working from the sidelines than she can running in the front.

And Bill Clinton?  I guess he was a very influential man after all.  Just look what he did for Gore! ;)

Doc, we have some more in common. Don't be a Sore Loserman  :-) about Thompson now!  Thompson was my horse as well so to speak.  We had very similar beliefs.  He was very intelligent and could communicate it very well.  He has been flying low, for the only thing I've heard from him was a commercial for I can't remember what.

I agree with you on Rice and that she probably won't run.  I agree with you as well that she would be outstanding.

Since I agree with your above comment down the line, I'm willing to bank that we have very similar political beliefs.  I know we hold similar religious beliefs, but probably at different extremes.

Don't forgot to keep posting to the gun ban fanatic's article! I got your back as you got mine :-)

I have been called many things, but perhaps what is most accurate is a Goldwater Conservative.  Very conservative fiscally (My degree is in economics where we basically proved that Keynsian Economics is an abject failure), and what I consider to be libertarian socially, but others think may be more liberal.  IN other words, equal (not greater) rights for Women, and Gays.  But that also means I am Pro 2nd Amendment - get the government out of our lives!  So no party is a perfect fit.  But the democrats have left the reservation.
