strange gap in desktop icon spacing below fence

win 7-64 professional, Fences v1.00.2787 Screenshot here:

see the gap below the Doctor Who icon? That's where the fence label should be, BUT I have "show labels" set to "never" in fences - customize? So why is space still being reserved for a non-existent label? Also, notice the 3 icons to the right of the fence? Icons within the fence don't seem to be aligned with all the rest of my desktop icons, or the vertical spacing inside the fence is different than the desktop default? desktop icon-view is set to "auto-arrange" & "align to grid". Any help would be appreciated

Fences doesn't align its icons to your desktop's grid.  In order to place the fence anywhere you want, it needs to have its own grid separate from the desktop's.  I've only used the free version, and only on Windows XP Professional, but it uses the same icon size and spacing settings that my desktop uses.  (Not sure what the difference is in the way Fences behaves on the two systems, or even if there is any.)

In the picture you provided, it doesn't look like Fences is using the same icon spacing that your desktop is using, which I find a bit odd. o_O   Maybe you found a bug in Fences that only happens in Windows 7?

As a test, make eight new folders on your desktop.  Arrange four of them in a square inside a fence, and arrange the others in the same way on your desktop.  If you can't tell whether or not the spacing is different, take a screenshot and post it here so I can try to help you figure it out.

I don't think [from that image] that that is what is happening.

From the bottom of the fence area to the bottom of the image [desktop?] there's not enough space for 2 icons...only one....so there's a 'gap'...;)
