Bye bye (for now) my pretties

I dropped off my pet birds at a friend's house today... she (a co-worker) and her husband will be taking care of them for my family for a little while.  We've got some work to get done around the house and vacation mixed in along the way, so I took a look at the possible scheduling and made arrangements to drop the pets off today.  A bit of a haul since my co-worker lives a decent distance away from my house (and our work site), but not too bad if I have time to make the ride and do the hauling as required.  It seems strange not to hear the usual chirps and whistles that I'd be hearing from my pets while I'm sitting here typing and watching TV.

My big girl (among the oldest of the group, the big green female ring-neck parrot type) was most definitely not happy with the trip and/or with the new housing arrangements.  She had her scowl of disapproval on her face as we were leaving.  It'll likely take her several weeks to relax, and even then I suspect she'll not be all that friendly to my co-worker.  She probably won't try to attack her as she is quite gentle, but at the same time she won't let herself be touched or handled by strangers, at least not until she's gotten well used to them.

The younger ring-neck parrot type will likely be making a ton of noise over the time he's boarding with my co-worker.  He's young and peppy and won't care at all that he's someplace new.  He got to travel in his regular cage, but even if he hadn't he wouldn't care, at least not if he's within whistle range of his female friend (who could not care less about him, but whom he seems to be insanely jealous and somewhat desirous of...)

The other birds of the house (two pairs of cockatiels) probably won't care at all about the new digs.  As long as they have food to eat they won't care who is providing for them.

Soon enough they'll get to come home, but in the meantime hopefully I can get things straight in the area where their cages normally sit.  Some new curtain rods and curtains that will help block out the sunlight that heats up my playroom/den/Florida room and causes my air conditioning bill to be higher than I'd like.

Oh well, enough for now.  My daughter was looking for something funny to watch tonite and I offered up Shaun of the Dead on Blu-ray.  Time to watch a little of that with her.  :D

I see your Margaret Hamilton voice is good. ;)

Shaun of the Dead is one of those stupid movies that you can't help but like.  Enjoy and have a great vacation!
