Remove "Exclude this item from Fences' quick-hide" entry from right-click context menu

I have already disabled the "quick-hide" feature in Fences settings. Unfortunately, the "Exclude this item from Fences'..." entry is still listed when I right-click on any icon on the Desktop. How can I remove this altogether? Thank you.

There's no real way to remove that item from the context menu.  Is there any particular reason you want it gone?

I don't like it because it's too long. It's 2x longer then most of my context menu items.

Something like "Exclude from Fences" would be much better.

Rosco....

Won't modifying the Registry take care of that?

As in deleting any instances of "FencesShellExt - {1984DD45-52CF-49cd-AB77-18F378FEA264}" perhaps.
(I found a few of'em)

Messing with the registry is a dangerous thing, and I cannot, in good conscience, tell you to do something like that.  If, however, those entries happen to be deleted, and as long as you know that we can't help you if such a thing did happen and screwed something up, then que sera sera.

My official stance, though, is "Don't do that."  I'll mention to the developers about having the wording changed, but I'm just a lowly support monkey, so there's no telling what will happen.  ;P

The Fences shell extension for the context menus are in:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\Fences\FencesMenu.dll

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Fences\FencesMenu64.dll

Depending on if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Unfortunately it's all or nothing in this case. As the actual strings themselves are contained in the DLLs, you will have to disable all Fences context menu entries. To do so, download ShellExView from here:

32-bit OS: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.zip

64-bit OS: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview-x64.zip

This is a small standalone application that lets you see what shell extensions are plugged in. Run the program and scroll down to the' Extension Name' of 'FencesShlExt Class' and select it, then press 'F7', which disables the current selection. To re-enable at a later time, simply select it and press 'F8'.

By the way, my method still affects the registry, so this still applies.

I used ShellExView to disable FencesShlExt Class and the Fences line disappeared from right-click menu. And there was no problem for a couple of months. But after the last reboot Fences stop working (no groups on desktop). Enabling FencesShlExt back solved the problem. But there was no major changes on my system (no updates, including Fences update). I reinstalled Fences (with settings deleting), the situation remained the same. What could be the reason for this behavior?
