[Crash] Windows 7 - Game closes unexpectedly

Without user prompt and without warning

My specs:

Windows 7 Professional 64bit

320GB HD, 105GB free space

4GB of Ram

GeForce GT 120M

usually my sound card is problematic with software

What is happening:

The game Elemental crashes after a set amount of time, approx 15 to 20 minutes. No minimization or anything.

The screen blinks, then goes dark and Windows pops up without any windows for Elemental.

It happened today at various points in the game, to me it happened around turn 15 and turn 40.

It does not corrupt the save or anything else.

I had one problem irrelevant to the game, my laptop went into critical mode for batteries, but the game ran smoothly after that with a strange glitch that affected enemy opponents, didn't snag a picture sorry! but the effect was tree-like

Same here. I'm guaranteed to get a CTD at some point not too far along into the game. No error message. Im on 64bit Win7.

Had the same, Windows 7. Not very often, though.

Was having the same problem, changed the desktop shortcut to launch Elemental in Windows XP compatiblity mode as Administrator.  Also disable Anti-Aliasing in game options (ATI video card).  This helped a lot.

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and haven't seen this particular crash.  But then I get the "Out of Memory" crash every 30 to 40 turns.

Im glad I am not the only one who is getting these problems, I am now finding details on the crash itself.

okay an update about what happens:

11:31 Started game and played smoothly until around 12:14.

I started up the game again and played a two turns, the game crashes at 12:17 when I press the building unit icon in my capital.

If you haven't already, please read the "Beta Reporting Guide" post here.  It describes and tells you where to find debug.err and dump files that you can supply to help the developers fix these bugs.

Yeah, they'll almost definitely need more data.  I'm running Win 7 x64 without this problem, so it can't be just the OS.

The game Elemental crashes after a set amount of time, approx 15 to 20 minutes. No minimization or anything.

Out of curiosity... Since it's a laptop, have you tried turning off / changing your power settings?  If it happens exactly every 15 or 20 minutes, it's worth checking scheduled tasks/settings (e.g. dim/turn-off screen, hibernate, RSS update, AV).  Not your laptop's fault, but maybe the game isn't handling it correctly.

I'm having similar problems to the others described there.  Game running fine, then randomly freezes.  I get the "Out of Memory" error, although I didn't realize this until recently because the game screen remained superimposed over the error box.  I've put a number of the zipped dump files up on Dropbox (I assume they were all created as this happened periodically over the last few weeks).  Links to these files are posted below.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS. It's an ASUS Notebook 360 series, with an Intel Core i7 CPU, 6GB of RAM. MY video card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M, most recent drivers installed.  The game runs beautifully with all the settings turned up high, except for this unpredictable problem.  It does not seem to happen at set intervals for me - sometimes 10 minutes sometimes 2 hours.

Also. I've been running it as Administrator as recommended by some posts above but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks for this game - been very excited for it.  First video game I ever got was Master of Magic, this is clearly new territory but I can see the inspiration.  Please fix this bug soon though!! :)  Hope the files below help!

I have 12 of the requested files to share, happening over about a month.  If there are problems accessing them, feel free to contact me to work out another way to get them to you.  Not familiar with Dropbox, my guess is that my computer has to be on and connected for the files to be accessed?  If that is true, it will most definitely at least be accessible in the evenings EST from around 6pm-3am.
