WINDOWBLIND TUTORIAL PART 1 The start menu

WINDOWBLIND TUTORIAL PART 1 The start menu

Hi guys,

we have had some requests about learning how to make window blinds, some of the tuts out there are a bit dated and hard to understand,

so Im putting together a series of extremly easy to follow and understand tutorials focused on how to make a windowblind from beginning to end.

If anyone has questions, please ask! or if anyone has suggestions....do tell us, the more secrets we crank out the better.

Tomorrows tutorial will look at painting margins, startmenu font, username font, margin seperators, all programs arrow and the log off buttons.

You can't. Each of the skins described in these tutorials come with inherent copyright. You can't save then as a DLL and passing them on to others is considered theft unless you have the authors permission. There are links in your post. I suggest you check them out and read the TOS...terms of service that comes with you joining this site.

yh how do you save a it to a dll so you can make a full theme and pass it on to other users like other ppl do

Do you mean the WD skin after you make it? if so it's done in SkinStudio

If you mean a hole theme i.e. Cursor, Icons, Wallpaper, Etc. that would be Theme Manager

No dll's are Harmed in the making of a WindowBlind Skin...

EDIT

also what Uvah said. Excepted for theme Manager you can share it with your friends BUT DO NOT upload it to a torrent site ...

Why you can share a them Manager Suit cause you are not sending them the Skins your just sending them a Theme Manager Suit and they have to

have Impulse installed and any other Program from StarDock that is in the TMS i.e. Windowblinds, Cursor FX, Icon Packager, Etc. then TM will look for it and apply it ...

So if for Example you don't have Icon Packager installed it will not apply that part of it and so on ...

or something to that affect...

NOTE. Theme Manager is Available exclusively through Object Desktop (Object Desktop is available for $49.95)

Is there a zip file of .bmp images that a typical skin would use that newbies could use as a starting point? I like to think I'm a good digital artist but getting the sprites right is a little tedious. If I had a basic set of images. That I could open in Photoshop and replace with my own work would be awesome. Does something like that exist?

Thanks for taking time to read.

Kind Regards

Wilhelm

Use the Corporate or Diamond WB that comes with Windowblinds as a templete. One of those is the preferred one to use from Stardock but it's been so long can't remember which one.

Usually the Diamond skin......I think.

Besides using the Diamond skin as a template, you can also open any skin up in SKS and look at what is there and make your own changes. Many skinners here at WC started out by modding an existing skin (For your own use of course, not for re-uploading) before they created their own original works from scratch.

Good Luck.
