Task bar has disappeared

Okay, so this is weird. I've been using WB with no problems until yesterday. I had restored the look of the OS to regular vista temporarily and then when I went to apply a skin, the taskbar was missing. The only thing that showed was the start button. I tried several different skins and had the same problem. So I go back to the standard Vista look, restart the machine and try applying a skin again. No task bar. Funny thing is, I haven't updated WB lately or anything like that. I did install a couple new skins, but I wasn't even trying to apply one of them when this problem occurred.

It's possible that WindowBlinds for some reason got messed up.  Do you have a restore point that you can go back to before this problem started?  If not you might try using Impulse to uninstall WBs, run a clean up program, reboot and reinstall WBs.  Be sure to set WB's back to the default skin before uninstalling.  If that doesn't work then you should probably email [email protected].

Post a reply so we know if the problem got fixed.

Yes, I have a restore point. I'll try that first as it's the less drastic option.

Here is what I have. You have parts as old as 2007.......that ain't right. You shouldn't have any 2007's in there, I wouldn't think. Maybe updating would be advised.

2007 is version 6.

Open Impulse, right click Windowblinds, verify installation.

I didn't pick up on the 2007 file as did RedneckDude and yrag so something is wrong.  Did you try the restore function or uninstall then reinstall of WB's?

EDIT:  I'm sorry Jim. :S

No. Where is the "restore function"?

Try looking in the control panel, I no longer have Vista loaded.

I think he means system restore, which I doubt will help, but as a last resort, maybe.

Start , all programs , accessories, system tools, system restore.

What happens when you max a window?

Ah....system restore. That's what you meant. No, I haven't tried that but I will.

What happens when you max a window?

Nothing!

Anyway, I'll have to revisit this in the morning. Thanks for everyone's advice. I'm thinking I'll probably have to uninstall/reinstall WB. I'll let you know  how it turns out.

A new twist: I set the gui to "Windows Standard" and then when I applied a skin, the taskbar was there. What's odd is that I didn't need to take this extra step before (it always worked fine when applying a skin with Vista aero as the default). Hmmm.... Oh well, at least I can do it this way.
