Forums go Boom every time I try to post!

Forums go Boom every time I try to post!

Has anyone else been having this problem lately? At least half the time I try to post, the forums go Boom and my post is eaten. And it's periodic; for example, I've tried to post something like 5 times in the past 10 minutes but it won't work. But I posted something earlier in the day and it worked just fine, but the day before I couldn't post anything either.

Also, if this post works, I will cry.

I was quite happy yesterday... only 2 booms... then today... dozens.

Then I realised it was probably due to the curried cabbage I had last night. :-"

The double and triple posting problem is resolved.  Things should start to settle down now.

And our database guy has found yet another database problem that may be causing lag and forum booms, so he is in the process of re-working it.

The forums have been kind to me of late.  No booms and no delays :~)

I suppose the network team already knows how infrequent
the boomings have become.  The logs tell them so.

I had three today already. I've seen claims there are only 50 a day or something like that. I am sure by the time the day is over I'll have 5 total. Somehow it seems unlikely that I, alone, am experiencing 10% of the booms.

Yeah, I shoulda said "knows the frequency of the booms" vs "how infrequent [they] have become".
Just wanted to point out that Stardock knows precisely the frequency of this event.

Yeah one of them said something like 50, but i just find that figure suspect. Unless the forum visitor numbers are so low, so terribly low that I am actually having 10% of the errors.

Or perhaps there is a regional affect?  Or DNS route, or some other user specific factor?

Um, I've been getting the strange event of being logged out.... sometimes while I'm actually in the forums posting.  Yeah, I can be logged in one minute, then I'll get a "welcome visitor' sign up thingy at the bottom of the thread, and I know that I didn't log myself out.

It's not too much effort to sign back in or anything, but I thought it may be of interest to the folks working on site mechanisms.

Yesterday I couldn't get my posts thur, I accidentally posted twice the same thread but today they are all going up in seconds, I don't understand it. -Jeremy Sr.

yeah.... me too....maybe it's a hint against us Aussies   X-(

I got logged out a number of hours ago.  Happened once and I figured it was just something on my end.

I'm in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. so it's not a Aussie thing

My wild guess is that maybe someone was working on a forum function which logged us out?

It's been working fine here for ages.

I'm sure it's all in your imagination.

Think positively. It's the law of attraction. If you think something bad is going to happen it usually will. If you think it's going to boom, it will.

So have those joy-joy feelings and everything will be fine.

It appears to be worse down under because you are all so depressed at how crap your cricket team is...

so far today all has been posting quickly, so hopefully they have managed to finally find the last bug & fed it to the frog,

and fuzzy it might suprise you to learn that SOME aussies do NOT like cricket( bloody noisy insect) or rugby( they can not decide if they are a union or a league) or sock her(as violence does not get the desired results).

FYI: Due to a security concern we reset all cookies last night.  You will be asked to login again for all of our sites.  Nothing crazy, just a precaution :)

As for the number of booms per day, the booms only occur at very specific times of the day (which coincide with various jobs that we run which calculate features for the forum and elsewhere, as well as to clean up the forum's indexes to keep it fast).  So if you visit and get 5 booms, that doesn't mean others will be getting booms throughout the rest of the day.  It just means that you happened to visit while there was a lot of server load (on our end, not by the number of visitors) and got a boom as a result.

Keep in mind that we also try to run the jobs separate from each other and at times where we have the lowest amount of traffic.  Due to the number of jobs, however, we end up having some long-running jobs lasting into the afternoon.  We are still trying to find out the best schedule for these jobs, and we will continue experimenting until we find a good setup.

That must be extremely tough to do given the global nature of the SD forums. Keep up the good work, I'm sure it will all get ironed out as quickly as possible.

Ah, but I don't give a rat's about the cricket team... it could lose to a team of one-legged pygmies and I'd not care one iota.

I have time now for only one sport... rugby league.  GO Brisbane Broncos.  I even watch the English Super League competition as well.  Usually I go foe Wigan, but they're not doing so well this year
