NPC Game

I was wondering if it is possible to make a game with only computers and watch it. I know its a weird question, but I want to see the things that the hardest level of computer does and maybe learn from it (the game's battles also look awesome in the highest settings and I wanted to watch a good fight because I always lose rapidly). Thanks!

just load up a map with several AIs and yourself, then surrender and pick continue playing

then sit back and relax

The intelligence of the AI doesn't improve above "normal" difficulty, it just gets a resource cheat.  You'd be better off looking for replays of other players.  There are some good ones out there.

Do you know any good place to find them? I tried looking, but I either don't trust the websites, or they just don't show up. (I'm not looking for a youtube video, etc).

You probably won't be able to learn much from watching the AI other than how the AI thinks.  The only thing you might learn is that the AI is incompetent.  (Sins AI isn't bad as far as AI goes, but it cannot use strategy or tactics the way a human player would.)  It would make more sense to watch replays of humans v. humans games, which are played over Ironclad Online.  There might be some replays available somewhere.  (The big problem is that people post them and then the game gets patched but older replays won't work with new patches.)

I just uploaded a 4v4 that I played last night as "Dark Vortex".  6 of the 8 players in this game are very experienced.  So, watch the players Efejao (fighting flank), Dark Vortex (safe economy slot), Vojtisek (safe economy slot), Serak Warriors (fighting flank), Android (fighting flank), and Aquia (economy slot).  In this particular map, each team started together instead of being intermixed with the opposition, so two players on each team were "eco slots" and two on each team had fighting slots.

You can only watch this if you have the most updated version of Diplomacy.  (I just uploaded this for you.)

That file is ready to watch but you have to move it to the right place first.  You need to put it in a folder called "Multiplayer-Record" which you can find in your Sins Application Data Folder.  For a discussion about how to find that, visit:  http://tinyurl.com/sins5  Read the 2nd post and some of the other posts in that thread.

Actually, Aquia and Android started in eco slots with two new players on the flanks.  It's surprising that this game was as competitive as it was because normally the two new players would get steamrolled, resulting in the game becoming a quick 4-on-2.  Aquia prevented his ally from getting knocked down by Efejao on his side but it wasn't too hard to take out the other new player, Vasary.  The game then became a 4v3 but it was competitive because the 3-man team seemed to have the largest fleets since Aquia had the best economy.  I couldn't develop much eco since I only had a piddly 3 planets 1 asteroid, and no deserts (not enough logistics slots to build enough trade ports.  Somehow I ended up being #1 for eco later on in the game and was even able to finance Kosturas.

Thanks a lot for this. I've owned this game for a while but I cannot seem to win the longer matches and I wanted to see a game from a different perspective. I'll check it out as soon as I can, thanks!
