What Did You Play this Weekend?

It was a bit of a boring weekend here, so I was glad to have some time to dedicate to gaming.  I concentrated on two games this weekend.  The first being Elemental: War of Magic beta.

The second being Tropico 3: Absolute Power.

Well, what did you play?

I played a game called Cleaning Up Flood Damage.  Real fun game.  It's a simulation where you sweat your butt off cleaning up flood damage in a garage, den, and basement- oh and bonus points for the workroom and sidebuilding.  Fun, fun, fun here in Tennessee, especially in 90F degree heat and humidity.

Actually, I did start playing some Torchlight.  It's meh-- a little like Diablo and a lot like Fate.  It is kind of addicting and much more fun than moving tons of furniture and flood damaged carpet and flooring.

Man, Opryland got hit hard didn't it?  I drove by Opry Mills about a week after the flood and it was weird seeing a mile or two mile swath of brown where the flood receded.  As for me, I think I was lucky just to have some basement flooding instead of the whole house going underwater.

I have seen some bad floods before-- been through 2 or 3 dozen tornadoes a few hurricanes-- but I have never seen a storm system put down 3or 4 inches of rain in 15 to 20 minutes.  That part was unreal.  The house I am in sits partway on a hill and there was a literal river gushing out of the side of the hill.  Looked like a geyser.  I am not really sure I can accurately describe what took place during the floods; I don't think I'd do it justice.  There is also a creek that goes way off from the property that turned into a huge whitewater rapids.  I was worried about it at first as it got bigger and bigger, then that buttload of water started to shoot out of the side of the hill forming its own river going down the side of the house (cause of the basement flood).  I went into the basement and water was just surging from the walls and under the floor. Thank God for Shop Vacs and large floor fans.

Oh, and thanks for the offer but insurance took care of the floor.  Yay, new floors.  I pretty much have everything cleared out or moved that needed it.  I will say that floods are a major pain in the ass.

Eschalon Book II. :D

Good game and is in the style of an Ultima like game. Something that's been missing in PC games for a long time.

Kitten Sanctuary! We love that game in our household. :)

I was looking sideways at that since it released, because I'm pretty sure Book I was in a bargain bin in Best Buy 8 or 9 years ago.

Book I was released November 2007, you're probably thinking of something else.

If you're interested you can download a demo of Book I & II from the developers website.

Conker's Bad Fur Day on the original Xbox.  Still awesome.  I also attempted to play Knights of the Old Republic, purchased off of Steam.  Forgot how Steam gimped the game from being modded, so I can't play the game in Widescreen.  Not so awesome.

I have Elemental Beta, Fallen Earth MMO, SC2 Beta, and Bloodbowl in my current line up.

But I played none of them I played the Elemental Forum game waiting for Beta 2.

Well that and I reinstalled X-Com 2 and Dawn of War 1 and the xpacs through Soulstorm.

But seriously I am dying here waiting for the Beta 2 release to get back to picking elemental apart again.

Oh and for the record, the pretty graphic screenshots of the Ele beta....

Low my freind, seriously Low X|

I didn't realize at first you were a SD employee and went scrambling to impulse to see if the update was available

Followed by the "How the Hell did he get the beta 2 game"

Followed by the realization that you were with SD and a very heavy sigh

lol.. so I went to the elemental page.. and saw the pre-order list.  I don't understand the point of pre-ordering the digital download.  Just curious as to the purpose of doing that?

So you can take part in the development of the game via the betas. Where else would you get that opportunity?

If you just want to play, then wait for the release. The beta is primitive (no graphics) and limited in function.

I had quite a few stirring hours with Sins. The Diplomacy add on has improved the AI beyond sight; I actually lost three Marzas on the way to stomping the AI...

Had a couple of games of Demigod. I'm starting to get a bit bored with that though.

I still enjoy a quick frag fest in UT-2004, my favourite game of all time.

Played Softball Saturday afternoon, then had Rugby on Sunday. Both were played outside under sunny skies with a little breeze blowing into my face. Damn, I'm such a nerd!
