have just seen on the bbc news that there are plans to build a mosque next to the world trade centre in new york - i am not religious tho i respect others if they do believe but surely this is wrong? i know not all muslims are bad but this is like a slap in the face. would ppl be able to build a cathedral in riyadh? or a synagogue? i doubt it.
Best to leave that type of divisive stuff...especially religion....out of Forums, as Ed used to say.
If they somehow manage to build it...I'm moving to riyadh and building a titty bar right next to the mosque! I could no longer support or respect a country that would allow that.

Well... the trip both ways, really! Wouldn't wanna walk all the way around and run out of steam before the pole dancing starts.
To be honest, I've never been to a 'titty bar' as such`, though I did visit a couple of strip clubs years ago. My first wife (girlfriend at the time) took me to a strip club called World by Night in the late 70's... we were hungry after going to the movies and it was the only place back then where you could get a meal in Brisbane after 10.00pm. As I recall, it wasn't a legal establishment, either, not that we knew or cared at the time... when yer gotta eat, yer gotta eat.
The second time I visited a strip joint was with my second wife. She and a girlfriend (hers) wanted to go see the Wildside Revue (male and female performers) and I got dragged along to make up the numbers.... Janine (the girlfriend) was given 6 free tickets and I/we got an invite. Anyway, I spent the majority of the night with my back to the stage, in deep philosophical conversation with the barman... an old friend who'd moved from the UK and I hadn't seen in about 20 years. Yeah, so much for the titties... big deal, I had way more fun reminiscing about old times.
oh i wasnt trying to be controversial in mentioning this, i was just shocked that it was even being considered in light of what took place on 9/11

There are an estimated 1.5 billion muslims in the world, they are not responsible for 911. They have just as much right to build something as anyone else.
Whether you agree or disagree with their beliefs/culture please don't label an entire populace terrorists because of the actions of a few extremists. In doing so you are becoming the very thing you abhor.
Anyway, enough of that. In my view, being anti religion, it would be a better idea for them to build a titty bar. It would get a lot more customers...

Precisely, not all followers of Islam are bad eggs because a handful of lunatics corrupted the original belief to suit their own agenda. I know a few people who are Muslims, and they are decent, gentle folk who contribute to society in many positive ways.... though there is one guy who terrorises even me. Yeah, there's something in his diet that.... let's just say that curried cabbage pales in comparison and you can cut the atmosphere with a knife afterwards.
I'm not anti-religious, but I do believe the 'service' is awesome and that titty bars get more in the collection plate (tips).
