Well I don't know any of the weapon stats (never played TT and don't have any codices).

However, that's awesome that the Leman Russ Battle Cannon can now mach the range of the Hammerhead Gunship.

Also nice that vehicles can be bought in squadrons for IG.

Well, you probably should try and find a PDF of the 5th Edition rulebook somewhere.  A good portion of it is real basic n00b stuff, which could be helpful for you, however a lot of it is really, really nice since it contains all sorts of info about rules and weapon types.  Note that that's just the rulebook, it contains no unit lists for any race, so you'll need to grab the codices separately.

So for your first question, yes, other races can take vehicle squadrons.  Tau Piranha and Tetra speeders are in squadrons, as are Space Marine Land Speeders.  To the best of my knowledge though the Imperial Guard are the only ones who can take main battle tanks and self-propelled artillery in squadrons.

For question number two, any army can have a maximum of two HQ choices, six troop choices, three fast attack choices, three elite choices, and three heavy support choices.  No army however can have anything less than one HQ choice and two troop choices.  And to represent the without number horde that is the Imperial Guard, an IG army can get for a single troop slot a Platoon Command Squad, 2-5 Guardsmen squads, up to 5 Heavy Weapons Squads (each with three heavy weapons), up to 5 Special Weapons Squads, and a Conscripts squad for use as a meatshield, which they do wonderfully since they are 4 points per Conscript and a single squad can have up to 50 of them.

Of course, the most devastating weapon in the IG arsenal is not its tanks, nor its infantry, but a man known as Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed who can be taken as a HQ choice and allows any unit in a player's army to have the Scouts special rule, which allows them to Outflank if kept in reserve (which means they get to move in from one of the table edges when deploying from reserves).  So yes, as some of the less outrageous Creed writefaggotry says, Creed can indeed make Leman Russ tanks appear out of nowhere, since his rule does not include any limits on what unit can be given the Scouts rule.

I like the more outrageous Creed writefaggotry, where it says that he can make Baneblades or Titans pop out of no-where.

But that's very useful to know the slots. Also nice to know that I can have 2 HQ options (Avatar+Farseer w/ Warlock bodyguard FTW). It's a pity though that the Guard are the only ones who can take battle tank and artillery squadrons though, as I'd love to have a squadron of Fire Prisms.

On a side note, can Wraithlords be organized as a squadron? I know that War Walkers can be chosen as a single unit of 3 walkers, but what about Wraithlords?

No offense, but why would you think Wraithlords can be organized in a squadron just because War Walkers can?  I'm not trying to be mean or anything; I'm just trying to find out what Wraithlords and War Walkers have in common that would lead you to think Wraithlords might possibly be capable of being a squadron.

There's walker walkers (which are a type of vehicle) and there's things which walk (which includes infantry and monstrous creatures).  The Wraithlord is not a vehicle despite it being a Heavy Support choice; its actually a Monstrous Creature which is a special type of infantry with some special rules.  Keep in mind this is TT, not DoW where things that take vehicle cap are vehicles and squad cap units are infantry squads.  Heavy Support Wraithlords are not vehicles, and neither are Space Marine Devastator squads.  Space Marine Dreadnoughts are an Elite choice, just like Terminators, and Space Marine Land Speeders are Fast Attack, just like Assault Marines.

Monstrous Creature special rules are Move Through Cover, Relentless, can fire two ranged weapons per turn, and roll 2d6 for vehicle armor penetration in close combat, plus they typically have T6+ so it is hard to cause a wound against them.

Probably the only thing that TT doesn't have is CC sync-kills. Which is okay, because that's covered by the DoW games. I personally really like the Wraithlord vs. Dreadnough w/ WL victory sync-kill of DoW2. It's awesome.

me and some firends use to play table top so I have couple armys, but no way to play game any more be honest i really wish they come out with a table top turn based game for warhammer 40,00 they could sell core game comes with one army and then sell expasion armys i am sure it make good sales and would sell well, and i am also sure that it would not hurt the hobbiest most people even if they cant play enjoy making models and painting the armys like my self.

I knew, just knew that the Imperial Guard ... using mass infantry to support AMAZING TANKS!! has one of the best armaments of ranged weaponry!!

and dis-regard the fact that most Imperial companies/regiments use only las-guns ... veteran companies led by experienced commanders (or commisars) can afford for ~30% of their regular forces to use either Plasma Rifles or Rocket Launchers!!

Albiet, while there will still be twice as many infantry companies WITH only las-guns ... Elite Commisar led Guard Units are the BEST mixture of kickassery and cannon fodder (especially if equipped with some Missle Pods/ Rocket Launchers...)

And of Course, with the LemanRuss and the Artillery in the back (who cares about friendly fire) and ... MAYBE EVEN A BANEBLADE!!! [drools]

Where it get's really nice is the fact that the Leman Russ Vanquisher has a 96" range gun. I'm 99% certain on this, but don't quote me.

But Sparda forgot the most devestating piece of Imperial artillery- the DEATHSTRIKE MISSILE LAUNCHER, which effectively amounts to a Chimera-chassis mounted ICBM. Oh snap, I went and blew up your precious Hammerhead with a FUCKING ICBM. That's beyond awesome, it's uber-awesome wintastic.

However, I'll take Meltaguns, and lots of them. After all, despite it's rather short range, it's a beat of a tankbuster.

@Sparda- can Valkyries, Vendettas, and Vultures be taken as squadrons? And for that matter, can the Chimera be taken as a squadron? (I assume so for the Chimera)

Valkyries and Vendettas are a squadron of 1-3, Chimeras are independent.  Valkyries and Vendettas are Fast Attack though while Chimeras are Dedicated Transports and use no FOC slots.

And meltaguns have a pitiful 12" range and only roll 2d6 for penetration at 6" or less, so not useful considering Guardsmen have 5+ saves and will be lucky to get within 12" of their target, never mind 6".

And Vanquisher is only 72" with S8 and AP2, and it rolls 2d6 for armor penetration.  Its only 5 more points than a regular Leman Russ, but it doesn't have the ability to wipe out half a squad of Space Marines in a single shot so it isn't something I would use.

And Manticore is better than Deathstrike.  You only get one Deathstrike missile, and you have to roll a die to be able to launch the missile, and Manticore has a 120" range, four shots,  and each shot does d3 large blasts at S10 AP4.

Ah, but Meltaguns would be useful for Elysians or for Stormtroopers/Kasrkin, as Elysians can deep strike, and Stormtroopers/Kasrkin are tougher than regular Guardsmen.

It's good to know the actual range of the Vanquisher cannon. However, I will contest the point of Guardsmen getting close to their target; as I assume that troops can fire their ranged weapons after debarking from a transport, but cannot engage in CC (unless the vehicle is open topped or has an assault ramp). However, if troops can't fire after they've debussed (with the aforementioned exceptions), then I can agree on that point.

I'll still think Meltaguns are awesome though *insert evil laugh*. Though I would contend that the Basilisk and Sky Ray are both superior to the Manticore, as the Skyray has more shots, and the Basilisk has unlimited shots.

Also, have you seen the new Leman Russ Eradicator? It's supposed to be one of the variants that the Demolisher kit can be assembled as. The gun looks like the same cannon as the Hellhammer variant of the GW Baneblade kit. Perhaps this indicates the Eradicator mounts the Hellhammer cannon?

Oh, uh, what's "FOC"?

FOC = Force Organization Chart.  You know, the two HQ, six Troop, etc. thing?

And troops can fire after disembarking, but six inches is spitting distance and transports only move 12" at cruising speed and a Chimera has armor of 12/10/10 so getting nailed in the side with a lascannon or missile launcher is pretty much a guaranteed penetrating hit.  You may have to advance a few turns under fire and hope the Chimera doesn't get Immobilized or Destroyed.

And the Eradicator doesn't mount the Hellhammer cannon; it mounts the Eradicator Nova Cannon which is 36" S6 AP4 Heavy 1 Large Blast and ignores cover, plus the Eradicator costs 10 points more than the regular Leman Russ.

And the Manticore is better than the Basilisk since an average game only has 6 rounds.  A Basilisk will get off 6 shots, while the Manticore will do anything from four to twelve.  Besides, volume of fire can be as important as duration of fire.  Being able to hit a unit with three S10 large blasts at once can be very useful.

The thing about the tabletop game it it's very luck-based. That fun when you're actually rolling the dice but when if your dragon rider wearing magic armour with a 3+ ward save got one-shotted by a catapult in a game which doesn't give you all the technical details I imagine it'd be very annoying.

Also the combat is totally nonsensical. It takes one or two guys dying to break a unit, and sometimes they'll flee from combat with any deaths.

I don't think a direct translation would be best.

What's the longest game you've ever played/heard of played?

I've never played TT or heard about specific game lengths, but I have heard they take a long time thanks to the fact there's a crapload of dice rolls being made.

And Whiskey, something useful I've learned is that it is far easier to simply download PDF versions of the TT stuff rather than constantly ask people questions.

Unfortunately I'm not sure where to get the PDF versions other than the GW site (which seems to have only a smattering of items).
