It's almost that time...

Pray for my soul, I'm about to head off to the dentist again to have my mouth mangled a bit.  My own fault for not taking care of my teeth as well as I should, but still, I know I'm in for a long time in the chair this afternoon.  A couple of deep fillings *after* having a "deep cleaning" done on the same side of my mouth that the cavities that are being filled are on.  The idea is that I sit in the chair and have myself poked and prodded for the cleaning and then the dentist comes in and takes advantage of the already numbed mouth to take care of the fillings.

I know I really need the fillings and definitely want to get them done, but as always with me, I'm not looking forward to the novacaine needle and the several hours of numbness (and slobbering...) that will result from same.  Bleh.

Hopefully my mouth will be back to normal by dinner time tonite.

Sadly, next week, at about the same time, I'm due to go back and get cavities on the other side of my mouth done.  At least that time I'll know full well what to expect.

Oh well, after this hopefully things get back to normal for me.

On the baseball front, Dr Guy got his wish for yesterday.  Today's game comes up shortly.  I hope it doesn't come down to the bullpen for my favorite team.  If it does they are likely doomed :(

I do so hate the dentist too!  Because of the novacaine!  I hate it so bad, that I once had a tooth filled without it.  And you know what?  I think I am going to have that done from now on! (it was not really that bad - very little pain).  Yea, the slobbering makes you look like a neanderthal (as if I need help!).

On the baseball front, hey!  You can't win them all!  We may not be leading the league, but the Mets are not door mats this year either!  After today, let's just concentrate on hating the Phillies! }:)

Funny thing for me is that when I made the dentist appointments, I made them on days when I would normally have a meeting to attend at work (one that my boss holds on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month).  I tend to abhor meetings.  "Unnecessary consumption of my time" is the wording that I'm permitted to use as long as it's not in front of the wrong people.  I was smacked around a little for labelling meetings "wastes" of my time, but you probably see what I've done here. :p

As much as I don't care for going to the dentist, I'd still rather be sitting in the chair there than have to be sitting through the office meetings that are (for now) conflicting appointments with these dental appointments :D

I've done the fillings without anesthesia before too.  Many years ago.  I absolutely hated the needle that was involved in getting novacaine.  I still don't care for novacaine, but I'll admit that one of the fillings I had done today would definitely have required novacaine anyway.  It was pretty deep.  Actually it was a filling where I had previously had one, so the dentist had to drill away all of the old stuff (which was already pretty deep) and then fill with new stuff.  I could see on the X-rays how deep it was and I'm sure I didn't want to have it worked on without something to numb things there.  Honestly, I'm not so certain that this filling wasn't the same one that I had done without the novacaine, which was way back in my teens.

Deep fillings do make a difference. OUCH!

Ok, you got 4 of 6.  So now I can actually start hating the Nats instead of ignoring them. ;)
