I don't believe they are staying away in droves. It's summer now, and it has always been quieter in the summer months. Many are out mowing the lawn, playing in the sandbox with the kids, having BBQ's. It's just too nice out there! Things will pick up in the colder months.
It doesn't matter, Winter, Summer, Spring or Fall, participation in the forums has been dying by degrees for the last 4 - 5 years... even longer. Take a look here. Someone was trying to give away a WC sub... and it took took 4 years to reach 50 posts. More recent 'give away' threads garnered even less interest, so what does that say about the site. Apart from a handful of steadfast regulars (and even a few of those have moved on) it feels like many... well some people, at least, don't expect to be here for the long haul, and thus aren't interested in a free year's sub.
I have been spending less and less time here over the last year or so, and that has little to do with seasonal adjustments.... the majority spending time outside cos it's Summer in the North. It has more to do with site inactivity and less interaction... the feeling I'm just talking to myself. All through the recent Oz Summer (Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, where the majority of WC members would be) I would log into the forums and click 'my replies' to check up on items of interest, and quite often there were no new posts in 24 - 48 hours... sometimes/often much longer.
Yup, the site, it seems, has been in the throes of a long, slow death for a while... and I can hazard a guess as to why some do not participate or bother to stay very long. It comes down to feeling valued as a community member and as a customer. Some have suggested/indicated that they do not feel valued as customers, that they've been made to feel like their opinions thoughts and feelings don't count for anything, and thus have stopped participating and/or visiting the site.
yeah doc dosent mention me neither.......i think its a case of who he remembers at the time, and he keeps doing weird spelling, hope that doesnt transfer across to his perscriptions.....
i like kiss and make up..but only if i get to shove my tongue down anothers throat and grab some assssssss........
as for the site dying and stuff, i think people are leaving, yes, but im not, art is following my heart, and I love it. I was asked to imagine a scenario, If i lived in a castle beside the ocean, i had no family, no worries, no bills, no appointments, no deadlines, ect, what would I want to do?, my answer was still art...... so im set for life.
I think its a normal cycle, people come stay, some go, some still stay, take a look at the top skinners list for example, I only recognize a handful in the top 50, the rest are people who have definatley moved on.
I'm here WG! Been working on some graphic design work, so not alot of time to spend here lately.I still love this place though. It's where it all started for me.

WebGizmos ,I have been around for a longtime ,and read most of the posts, but sit on the side .I AM A SUB . Too but by reading some of them is a wander people leave this is where i come to get my skins and help remember if i did not download skins this site would not be hear you should respect one and all. It is winter hear so once the site is fixed, the site my pick up
Been here for quite awhile and it's still one of the very few web sites I visit in a regular basis. I hope it's still here in the years to come, I think it will but at the end of the day, the only thing you can bank on is that things will change. I'm not to worried about it, new blood's not a bad thing, but it's up to Stardock to keep and attract the talent that keeps this site great. I doubt that people interest in customizing or sharing their art will go away any time soon.
