Shhh! Don't say anything, you might jinx 'em...
Nope, not gonna say anything about... not even say the name of the who's that I'm not gonna talk about. Don't wanna jinx 'em. Gotta wait and hope the situation holds and I get the results I want. Meanwhile, maybe I can think of something else to write about.
Hmm, what to write about? How about Discipline. Something I'm lacking in some other areas, but that I'm trying to work on a little by being here now writing a few words. Gotta get into a routine or rhythym and write even when I don't necessarily have much to write about. It keeps me from being lazy and makes me think a bit on what I'd like to comment about or on. Even if I'm not commenting much on current events, politics, or other things, or at least even if I'm not commenting much about those things *here*, I should keep my skills up -- I never know when something that I absolutely feel compelled to comment on will come along and leave me wanting to blister my keyboard with fingers blazing on the keys.
Seriously, I have done a bit of pot-stirring, just haven't done it here much. With all due respect to the nice folks here, I have some other haunts where I'm a bit more comfortable unleashing a torrent of controversial comments about some topics. Not politics, as most of the other haunts I habit don't allow political discussion, but certainly discussion about some current events.
For example, the moron that met the business end of a TASER after running onto the baseball field. In that case I railed a bit on the mis-use -- in my world -- of the TASER as I felt and still feel that a TASER shouldn't be used for such cases. Unless the individual using the TASER is at risk of life or limb, or innocent individuals around the user of the TASER are at risk, then I don't see the need to use a TASER in the apprehension of an individual. Law enforcement officers and/or other security personnel shouldn't be using a TASER just because it makes it easier to subdue an individual without much physical exertion. Sometimes security/law enforcement personnel have to get physical with an individual and this most recent cases seemed to cry out as such a time. Tackle the moron, plant his face in the grass on the field, bend the arms behind his back and put cuffs on his stupid butt. Absolutely no need to use a TASER there in my book.
Even at times when physical force is used law enforcement personnel have "rules of engagement" to deal with and they are expected not to physically abuse an individual. They are supposed to use a reasonable amount of force and no more. Subdue and apprehend, and certainly don't endanger yourself or others, but don't use more force than is necessary. To me, a TASER is in most cases more force than is necessary -- unless the individual being tased was placing someone's life in danger or was making an effort to compromise the safety of the individual that was being tased (as in reaching for their weapon, attempting to disarm them, etc.)
You may disagree. If you do, feel free to use some space in the comments area below to tell me I'm wrong. You won't hurt my feelings, though I don't necessarily promise I'll debate the topic here. My discipline/routine -- for now -- doesn't yet require making time to come visit and debate regularly. I don't have that much free time (sadly) as I'm still working on things around my home. A pile of things. Actually several piles, but I'll perhaps write more on that later if time allows.
Enough for now. Hopefully back again tomorrow.
