24, you used to be so good...

I'm sitting here watching 24 thinking yet again how good the series used to be.  I've complained a bit in other places about the series which has definitely seen better days.  It used to be sooooooo cool, but this season has been such a total mess that it's a shadow of what it once was.

I don't for a second claim that all of the seasons were good.  There have definitely been some pretty bad seasons mixed in over the course of it's now long run, but this season... it ranks right up there in terms of suck-i-tude.

Co-workers/friends asked why I'm still watching the series given how bad I said it had become and my answer continues to be that I've invested this much time in the series (and this season) and I want to see the end.  Considering there's only a few episodes left, I figure I only have to stomach a few more hours worth of the show, but I swear the writers have made it about as tough as they can.

In other news, I've pre-purchased tickets to take my daughter and a friend to go see Iron Man 2 on Saturday.  I hope I'm not disappointed.  Strike that.  I better not be disappointed!  It better be awesome.

I knocked off a small chore today, or should I say part of one.  The 1998 Chevy Cavalier that my wife left behind (the one that my son had been driving, as she was driving a 2002 Cavalier) has a broken driver's seat.  The lock mechanism for the reclining adjustment is broken and the seat back won't lock upright as it should.  It's very uncomfortable to drive even when I put a small cushion behind me.  I'm intending to pass it on to my daughter later, but in it's current condition it's nearly undrivable.  So, I contacted the local auto recyclers and have placed an order for a "new" seat for the car.  I hope to pick that up later this week and hope its not in horrid condition.  I don't mind covering it over, but I hope the cushion is still good and that the reclining adjustments still work right, otherwise it's all for naught.

I have a Doctor's appointment later in the week that will take me out of work for at least a half day.  I'm hoping that I can go get the seat that day and take care of two things during the time off from work.  The Doc's appointment is just a checkup with the dermatologist, but since I've had a bout of skin cancer before, I have to keep getting regular checkups.

24's over, the previews look like the mess will continue.  Bleh.  At least I have today's episode of Chuck on my DVR to watch.  Maybe that will wash away the nasty taste of 24.  If not, then I have a few episodes of Justified on another DVR.  Or maybe I can toss in Tombstone on Blu-ray.

I was a big, big fan of the past 3 seasons. I never actually saw th season before so I am a bit baffled as to how they were able to keep the show going. Either previous shows were bad or they just got lucky but I just couldn't figure how they could keep a show based on terrorist attacks going for so many seasons. I mean seriously, how many more terrorist attacks could there be, especially in a show that last only 24 hours?

How many different kinds of attacks?

How many different kinds of attacks?

Not sure what you mean. The last 3 seasons were basically terrorist attacks of some kind. This one is no different, the beginning was interesting but I stopped watching and don't know if it got better or not. But watching a show based on the same kind of disaster over and over. Makes me wonder if it were real how bad our home land security would really be.

I'm expanding on your point. How many different kinds of attacks can there be?
