lol DAMNIT FFVII was totally what I was going to link.. Easily the best. Only game I've ever bought the soundtrack for... so many good songs. Anyway, Cid's Theme is my pick
also, hahah <3 Contra, my brother traded my favorite game (Punch Out) to a friend for Contra, and I was pissed (@ like 4), but then as I grew older I loved it 
haha I know right? I've seriously just listened to a whole bunch of FFVII tunes for the past hour... goosebumps, great memories, and nothing accomplished other than listening to awesome music and reading some comments on other people's memories

I really liked the music in Sonic Adventure Battle 2.
Don't know any of the song names and I'm too lazy to find out though 
A lot of the Jak stuff is excellent (Especially J3 and TLF)....:
and Myst will always have a special place in my heart (particularly Revelation and End Of Ages, although that's more for music than gameplay-- Exile was better for the actual game).....
but you just have to sit back and recognize the sheer perfection of Metroid:

YES! Super Mario Galaxy has awesome music, but that one it particular is just amazing. I really wish we would get a US release of that soundtrack. Why does Club Nintento Japan get all the goos stuff and we just get a bunch of greeting cards and posters?
Anyway:
I'm not a huge fan of the Halo games, but I think their music it pretty amazing. And as for Still Alive, how can you not love that song?
EDIT: I almost forgot. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has some awesome music:
