Daiwa, so the Obama administration has already passed a law requiring people to prove their citizenship... So I wonder how Obama supporters justify the contradiction with the Arizona law?

Now that I have read the language of the law, I support it.  In fact, reading it pretty much dispells all the arugments against it.

"For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or a law enforcement agency of this state or a law enforcement official or a law enforcement agency of a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person, except if the determination may hinder or obstruct an investigation."

"A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may not solely consider race, color or national origin in implementing the requirements of this subsection except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution."

Daiwa, apparently the law is already working.

It is against the law to not have identification on you. If you are stopped even walking on the street you can be arrested for not having ID. Once you produce ID the police verify that ID and send you on your way. If you are wanted for any reason they take you in. IF you are illegally in the country you are supposed to be arrested and turned over to immigration. That is and has been the law for most of my life. Now however, it seems that obeying that law is bad. Cities don't enforce that law, well, some cities don't enforce that law and say they are progressive for it. If the City breaks its own laws and federal law as well, we should stop sending federal money to those states and cities. The legislation you speak of just enforces laws already on the books, please explain how this is a bad thing?

Yes, they can! If I rob a bank and don't use a car does that mean that police can not ask me for ID? How is a policeman to enforce the law if they can't question a person? If you don't carry ID you can be arrested for vagrancy by law you have to show a means of support and an address. That law is in every state, and has been since the 1930's so it is not a new law or picking on one group or another. Once again the Arizona law is only enforcing laws already on the books.

This is simple and easy. Make a new law that says that all people breaking the law must turn themselves into the police. That way no one will have to be questioned and only the guilty will be bothered.

The liberals and media (same thing) are going all out on this one, so many lies.

Here is what the law actually says:

Notice “for any lawful contact”.  

Police just can’t stop you off the street to ask for your “papers”, that is a lie being told by the left and the media.  What the law does is gives police the right to ask for proof of citizenship when lawful contact is made.  What does that mean?  Well for example, if someone is reported as a suspicious person and the officer makes contact with them, this is when they can ask for citizenship.  It’s basically the same way as they would when asking for ID to run a background/wanted check.  

Now that the falsehoods have been outed, take a moment and realize why over 70% of Arizona’s population support this bill.

The amount of violence from illegals is at the breaking point.  Over 80% of murder warrants are issued for illegal immigrants.  Smuggling of drugs and other illegal goods are at unprecedented levels, which end up in the streets and in schools that your children attend.  Take another moment and think about that.

If the federal government would have taken care of border security seriously, this bill wouldn’t be needed.

I doubt it only because this bill does something this Administration fails to do to often, tackle an issue and pass a solution for it, Rasmussen's poll shows how people like this. In the end to follow your concept would be to continue with politics as usual and this is something we need to step away from for once. It's time for politicians to stand up for what they believe in rather than pander to people just to win votes. If you gonna get ousted, do it for what you believe in not lies and deceptions.

This is suppose to be a fight for the American people not for the next Senate seat.

You raise a good point (and makes my cynic proud of you).  However, with 70% of Arizona, and similar majorities in other states backing the law (after actually reading it), not even Richard Daley can raise that many corpses (Amadinijad could, but then he is half way around the world).

Besides, while that may be the democrats plan, the Illegals are not stupid.  They are not going to go someplace where they KNOW they will be carded.  Most really do want to live here and just earn a living and stay out of trouble.  So the republicans are not really losing anything.  The Media and the democrats are.

The major question that needs to be asked here is, if it wasn't for the lies propagated by the incompetent press, would this law even be contraversial?

IMO ICE should be sending a few of it's trucks to these rallies. What a great place to begin to enforce the law.

If law enforcement knew the dates, times, and places of a big "rapists convention" or "burglar's social", wouldn't you want them to go check it out? What is it about the word "illegal" that creates inaction among law enforcement people?
