Diplomacy question

Are there any AAR or actual diplomacy guide other than the one on this forum for the diplomacy expansion ? Really struggling to understand all the parts of this expansion.

If i  give resources to a ai player and then eventually get a ceasefire and peace treaty their relations are good but myne are still hateful how do i improve this?

Romromrom,

I too had this bit of confusion when I first downloaded Diplomacy.  You are looking at two numbers:  1)  How much "your people" like "their people"; and 2)  How much "their people" like "your people".  When you send your envoys, give resources, complete missions, and help them out in combat:  You improve how their people view your people,  This makes them receptive to Pacts and whatnot initiated by you. Good times!

Getting them to the point where they can offer pacts ad whatnot is interesting.  To improve how much "Your People" like Their People" is a little more difficult.  They have to do things that your "People" like.  The easiest way that I have found is to give them missions that they are already doing.  If you want to improve how "Your People" like the Red Player, and the Red Player is fighting the Blue Player, give the red player a "destroy ships" mission with a decent reward. (I like to use:  Destroy 5 Ships.  Reward:  1000 Credits, 200 Mineral, 200 Crystal).  Experiment with this, and you will see the number in your box improving.

The other way that you can improve your "Peoples'" perspective is to fight in joint actions against a mutual enemy.  (You can usually join an attack with an AI that is above 0.0, against one that is below, and expect good results as long as you target ONLY the enemy fleet).

Other than this, I have trouble getting the AI to send me envoys, or make other gestures of Good will...  :\

Anyone else?

So i play a game with 2 ai players red and blue all on different teams.I attack red team and i want to become allied with blue do i A)hope and wait that blue will see my attack on red and consider sending gifts to me as a first step on the road to  alliance to deal with red etc  or B I influence blue first of all  ?

What conditions will an ai  player consider becoming  allied to your cause without you making the first diplomatic steps ?

Blue will dislike you more if you attack them, and if you attack their target then they may like you more. This is one of the many factor, and this is the 'military action' factor to be precise about it. Attack a mutual enemy and your relations should improve somewhat.

I found that an AI that offers anything in diplomacy, then it is most likely to open with a trade pact. This improves relations a bit in itself if I am not mistaken. Beyond that it is basically doing missions.

Your question on how to get to peace when you are not actively pursuing peace is a bit asking for much, because your question implies that you make no effort whatsoever. When even if you could get a cease before that then it depends mostly on luck I suppose. I would at least discourgae you to send envoys when you do not at least have a cease fire inplace, because the AI will simply destroy your envoy before it does much good.
