Hi I have sins of the solar diplomacy expansion and looking for some good mods I have already tried the distant star mod but was getting bad lag in battles so disabled it.What other mods are good for just the diplomacy expansion ?
Are there any small mods that just just replace sounds and the ship effects ?

You might try just Sins Plus and the Bailknights mods alone. Those are incorporated into Distant Stars and they would give you the improved graphics and the extra planet types. Also, there is a "Sins Optimization Mod" or some such that is supposed to reduce the lag and make the game run more smoothly.

this is the latest on the Bailknights mod maintained by Moguta
he also incorporates the Mansh00ter's explosion mod as well so you get pretty lasers with pretty explosions

as for using the Sins Optimization Mod, be warned, it will turn down the effects, we hope to use some of it (we can't use all of it) in DS to reduce the lag
If you are getting bad lag, try reducing your graphics settings. The big mods use a lot more memory simply because of all the cool stuff they add, so you might have to reduce the effects to compensate.
