peacekeeper help

Ok i wasnt sure were to put this so im putting it here so sorry if its in the wrong spot. Ok im having serious trouble with the peace keepers. i googled ways on how to fight them but for some reason my problem seems to be a little rare. they showed up late game and i was by far the most powerful. i only had the largest ships with weapons way ahead of most of the remaining races. (there are 4 others left and they are mostly economic with small medium to large sized ships) they showed up and i watched them destroy my neighbors fleet and i wasnt intitially attacked i think becuase i wasnt at war with anyone when they showed. i have the best missile defenses available and i can beat them no problem in a fair fight but my problem is that they have fleets of 15 all over the place how do fight that?

I have not had this event, sadly.

First of all, do you need to defeat them?  The other empires would seem to be toast.  Can't you go grab all the resource anomalies?

If you do need to beat them, can you not just research logistics and get fleets of your own?  For that matter, if their ships are poorly weaponed with missiles and you have great missile defense, one or two of your ships might take out entire fleets w/o problem.

Attrition. They don't have bases to repair and reinforce.

Hi!

You don't want to fight a fleet of 15 PK ships with defense-heavy ships. With incredible firepower such a fleet wields, you want to send at it kamikaze all-weapons ships. They'll die, but take with them some of PKs. Rinse, repeat. Attrition.

For explanation why's that check GalCiv wiki on ships' combat: https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Ship_combat

I'm a Gigantic-Immense map fan, and I've never been able to enjoy the vast amount of additional clicking that the PK event entails in a game that large. But several times I did try out the attrition-based approach to the PKs and could tell that it would work if I was willing to bother following through. I even suspect there might be a point where the long slog finally starts speeding up a bit because all those 'kamikaze' battles have produced a few seriously experienced fleets.

Late Game it's better to back up and delete them. This happened to me, and fighting ships with 1500 point shields was not a pleasant prospect.

I had them show up in 2232 however, just after I'd got Large Hulls but before I'd built any, they bossed the board and pulverized my neighbors before my ships showed up to kill them. Most of the time I just had to sit in port, waiting for them.

It was fun. }:)
