Honesty.

Hey all.  My friend let me borrow Sins and I played it once and Loved it, i ripped it and later I played it a few more times, each time getting a lil better so I used a bigger map.  Now, just a couple days later I tried playing the Huge random map and by the 2nd hour the game lags so bad.

Of course thats nothing new, I've searched the forums and seen the complaints and possible fixes and things but it really doesnt help.  I honestly wanted to buy entrenchment and diplomacy but.. whats the point?  Huge battles and maps are not enjoyable like this.

I know its pointless to post this, but I really hope by some luck this will be seen by someone that counts and really makes an effort to build a better, more optimized game in the future.  Maybe one that actually is multi-threaded?  Just.. something.  Because the game play is great, the mods i've seen are awesome, its a Really good game, and thats hard to say lately.

I'm just gonna copy/paste my system specs from xfire for reference.  Thanks for your time.

Believe it or not, Sins is quite well optimized for it's time (it was made in '04). And there's an optimization mod that increases performance considerably.

my best guess is that your "ripping" it... which means... 1. I really dont think anyone here really gives that much of a ....... about any technical difficulities you have... and 2. it means theres a good chance your playing some ungodly old version... almost every version and patch they have released has optimized things... and your missing out.

I am sure sins 2 will be multithreaded... I hope you miss out on that too. (unless you pay, I know its a weird concept.)

For something resembling a fair comparison.  Supreme Commander on the biggest map with ten players all maxed out.

That doesn't really run either.  The game greatly exceeds current processor tech in capability.  If they'd kept going the way they were when it was being designed, it wouldn't be an issue.  Unfortunately for Ironclad, we have no 8ghz processors.  It definitely would have been nice if they'd had the foresight to multi-thread the ai and such, but that's a rather common lack even in new games coming out.

So you title your thread honesty and then rip on a game that you for all intents and purposes pirated. I will agree with pbhead on this, please go away (unless you join the rest of us who have actually purchased the game)...

Honestly? The irony of the thread title was a nice touch.

There is something really strange about this. You rip a game, and then you say you hope someone in charge makes it run better for you. It's kind of like someone stealing a car, then complaining the tank wasn't full.

I don't know, I'd say that qualifies for an award of some sort.:omg:

2.4 GHz is kinda slow...

For Supreme Commander the recomended requirements include 3.0 GHz or better

This is my problem aswell as i have the same speed processor

Get a free game like Hakzor.  It's a warez pirate game where you d/l it and get a keystroke logger to put on your own box.  You don't even know where it is, then you have to discover where, and then you get to guess how much of your identity was stolen.

You';; like it!

If you like the game so much, why not just buy it and pay the developers for the thousands of hours they put into creating the game instead of stealing it?

I dont mind lending out my game so a friend can test and play but they are expected to buy it so we can play on an updated version. This is how I was introduced to sins and I bought it after my 1st game.

Wait...If he didn't buy it, how is he here?  Don't you have to register the game in order to post?

Or, did he register his pirated copy, at his friend's expense???

Really?  Huh.  Guess I just assumed you did, since I started posting here and registered the same day.  Thanks.

... borrow Sins ... i ripped it ... by the 2nd hour the game lags so bad ... my system specs ...

You have similar spec that me ( i have a supermicro computer ) ... a workstation computer, not a desktop one... for so computer, there are way for make sins fly...

But i will be greedy like you ( you can spend more of 400 euro on a empty motherboard but 30 euro for a game is too much !!! ) and will not spend my precious time for explain how you can reach some better performance...

Just one tip... original sins was with a memory leak... there was corrected with the sins 1.10 ... unfortunaly, pirated version cannot update over 1.05 since impulse is needed for newer patch... ico online game is not possible too...

And a advice : buy TRINITY https://store.stardock.com/cart.aspx?add&theme=impulse2&productid=ESD-SDE-W007  ... around 30 euro for Sins + Ent + Dip... you will be able to access Impulse for the last update, you will be able to play online, you will be able to use recent mod, specially the one who optimize memory use...

A shame that someone able to buy a good workstation need to pirate a low price game... i can understand a poor guy who steal bread for eat but i cannot understand a guy with a top Rolls-Royce who steal benzine...

I'm sure we'll be able to make all sorts of improvements with the money we made on your "ripped" copy... err... wait...
